Did you shift all the way down to your smallest cog before you pulled out the slack?

Shouldn't the cable go straight down into that angle?

This is why I love Jenson. Being they have a location in CA few hours away. I normally get my package next day with free shipping.

I bought 2 shimano rotors from them the other day. Only other place that had them in stock was eBay and it was still cheaper on Jenson by $10. Even with paying $17 for 2 day shipping. They are top notch.

Might’ve fixed my SX derailleur! But, still want the GX lol. Too much maintenance on the SX to keep it shifting nice.

I posted my initial thoughts a few pages back. Here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/all-things-bikes-and-tacos.445155/page-1126#post-24165612

The Spur is a very different bike than the mojo3, for sure. It has been much faster all around for me -- especially in the climbs -- and it pops off of everything even easier than the mojo3 (which was actually one of my favorite aspects of that bike, as well). With the 29er wheels, it also gets up to speed much quicker. I'm getting a lot more pedal strikes with the 175mm cranks that come stock on the Spur, though, so you might want to consider 170mm if you get one of these bikes. I really want to replace mine, but the X01 crank arms are expensive as hell when you try to buy them separately. Just keep that in mind.

I'm still in a honeymoon phase with mine, so it's tough to say anything negative. It's also tough because there's not much negative to say. The bike just rips!

It does seem like the 175 crank arms was a miss in the spec. It's strange because their other bikes seem to all have 170.

    not enough.
now THAT looks like properly setup cabling. As for how "tight" it should be, I shift into the smallest cog and then give the cable a little tug to give it a bit of tautness. As for your derailleur makign contact with itself, check your B-tension screw. it determines how far your derailleur is from the cassette but it could help with keeping it a little bti away from itself. :)

Try that on a modern geometry (long and slack) mountain bike and a tacoma SB or LB. It'll be pretty apparent.

    Yep all of that lol.

I actually found this article and the section about indexing the gears was amazing. It all worked perfectly following their step by step instructions. No videos or other articles laid it out as easily as this one did for me on setting it up.
