Domestic manufactures yes, but for some reasons he claims amsoil doesn't do well in foreign auto's especially toyotas.

This is how Road Dog does discourse. Check out his posting history. He’s been around a while. You just gotta be okay with the variance.

I have been running the amsoil ATF and I don't have any complaints. Switched it out at 20000 km, added a bottle of Lubeguard as per @gearcruncher 's recommendation and the transmission has been great.

I did find the level low from factory at 5000 km as well. Have to say with OVTune, amsoil ATF and Lubeguard in there I'm extremely happy.

Only that these transmissions no longer shift as were intended to, or act like the clutch is slipping if they were a manual....says it will take several thousand miles before it gets real noticeable.

The question is easy. Formatting said question into a simple and concise way is apparently difficult.

Which brings us back to the Crux. Ask simply, efficiently and concisely for the best answers. Now to answer the variation of your question, lemme answer with a question of my own. If u needed any specific fluid to top off / change any one of your fluids, do u think you'd be able to go to the dealer and aquire said fluid? If so, yes, the dealer has access to the whole "Marquee" (as u put it) of fluids needed for every vehicle. If not, than no :)

Right on what fluids did they not have, and what location? Could help us stay away from those dealerships. Keep in mind, the reason for my sarcastic post was to illuminate the erratic and inconsistent nature of your posts in regards to clarity.

It seems that from what many people on TW have said, I’m reading that the Toyota service departments don’t utilize the designated 75w-85 gear oil for our 3rd gen Tacomas.
It seems that it’s typically stated that they just carry and use bulk drums of 75w-90.

I cant remember any statements regarding what gear oil the parts departments carry.

The same thing happens at transmission shops .
They dont carry factory fluid . It would cost an arm and a leg to have all the different brands in stock. Not to mention the room and storage all those different fluids take up .
How do they get around this ?
45 gallon drums of transmission fluid from a bulk supplier. They purchase fluid that is compatible with almost every vehicle and use a bottle of Lubeguard which helps assist with friction modifiers in the transmission they are working on .
Its been this way for 40 years .

Shoot, its like this with oil as well, even at dealerships! They will sell you Touota fluid by the quart, but their bulk drums they use for oil in their service bays are from the cheapest seller at the time. A lot of times its pennzoil or mobil 1

From what I'm seeing, you need to use that with a DEXRON VI or MERCON LV?

I notice they use DEXRON and MERCON as base ATFs...because they are known specifications?

Lots of these aftermarket atf brands claim their compatible with those dexron, or mercron specs., especially dexron II or III in the older vehicles...but when used in that vehicle their suppose to be, their not.
