Ok, so for a serious moment I’ll break character. Any education you might offer is appreciated. Below is my uneducated understanding.

I have a rear locker which is electronic and available per the lovely card big white TRD made for us with 2 low mod. I’ll likely never ever need it but it’s there.

Front locker could be added on and would likely require a compressor to activate via switch. This would be for rock crawling out of really challenging situations? Where the rear isn’t capable of pushing over the top of an obstacle? From the few videos I’ve watched this seems well beyond my lifetime capabilities.

Airing up and down seems like an unusual event for me but not having to go to the gas station seems cool. especially for bikes and strollers and toys and stuff. Though I do have several bike pumps.

I’ve always wanted a compressor though but I have zero room to store one. The garage is fully lined with distressed cabinets, walls covered in gear wall and all the shelves have bins which are mostly full. I could maybe squeeze a shop compressor in the storage unit but I’d never use it. Always wanted air tools.

So, yeah, back to the most likely scenario of quick top off of tires and a blow dry of an air filter. Probably should get the single right?

We have known each other in here for a long time. Many many years some of us.
I don’t think hi standards is a requirement in here with these goof balls.
But appreciate you saying that.
You will find for the most part a serious question in here gets a bunch of serious answers.

Maybe my closest friend offered me a compressor from his laboratory (not sure of the model but he is funded by the NIH for immunology and it looked nice). Single Dave would have been all in without hesitation. But the wife took the garage for her office and it’s already an obstacle course to navigate. I was forced to decline.

I suppose I really just need to move. But I don’t want 4x the payment. So, stuck. $500 ish for a completely unnecessary compressor which takes up otherwise unused space sounds like an ok compromise.

ARB makes great air compressors but they are very expensive. For occasional use I would go with a

heavy duty portable.

Edit: I missed the locker part. You would definitely want the reliability of an ARB with that.

 

A single will work for that they are just slower. They will actuate a locker as well. Something to mount in the truck maybe a Viair or single ARB but I don't believe either will power air tools. For that a twinn is needed I believe, I haven't finished hooking mine up yet to tell you for sure. If you want something compact for home a pancake compressor or small horizontal compressor that can be easily stored when not needed would do the trick. Tools with high cfm requirements really like larger tanks or they will run a small compressor pretty hard. I actually have the large vertical compressor like TK422 posted in the garage for these jobs. It's kinda finding which suits your needs

My needs are less than zero. For sure.
I’ve read about guys (maybe gals too) with aux tanks and arb twin. Maybe adds some weight to the rig but solves for 37’s and presumably would for light tool use. That plus the 120v plug and a decent array of battery powered tools makes for a semi mobile worksite.

I think home shop space would for sure be a requirement for any move. I’m stuck on a 4000 sq foot lot with 2 kids and a 1700 sq foot 2 story house. We use every inch every day. I do maybe 30% of my shop work on the driveway. Sometimes I cut stuff on the SDGE box on my lot. It’s a halfway decent table. Better than kids selling weed behind it.

Air tool use would be small trim install and air saw for truck mods. Like cutting for a high clearance bumper I don’t need.

20v tools suffice for the meantime.

Sounds like I just go twin. Go big or go home? Something like that.
