Uh, thanks for the help with my AC. Just watched that slick rock video Yikes! I'm new here, think I'll find some "Soft Ball" drivers to get my feet wet with. Is there a beginner section please.

Says needs a regear, gets bigger tires instead :stirthepot:

    You had 285s before right?

You're gonna have better luck getting some help posting in the first gen tacomas section and not in people's build threads. More people will see it and will be able to help you there.

If you're looking for some people to go wheeling with local to you, check out the regionals section relevant to you. Either norcal or socal section since your bio says you're in cali.

lol, I cant decide 4.88 or 4.56. I originally wanted 4.88 with 35s for off road but if I consider the ~3 hour average drive time on pavement each way to most trails, doing 75mph @ 2600-3000 rpm does not sound fun at all. A couple of guys both said they'd do 4.56 with 35s just for the RPMs on pavement.

and yup, 285/75/16 Toyo Open Country AT2

I would go with 4.88's personally. Totally worth it offroad. Toyota engines are rev happy and have no problem with being at 2.6-3k rpms. I recently got back from a roadtrip where I was at 3k rpm for like 7 hours at a time lol.
Not like you're trucks straight piped or anything, so wouldn't be too loud I'd imagine.

I went 4.88s and am very happy I did. I am around those rpms above at those speeds but so far so good.

Lowering the front tires to 5psi really helps get the engine height lower. It’s so much better to work on.

Look at this guy, taking apart his manifold as if he actually expects to install a supercharger sometime soon... ;)

So about 150 miles driving up and down 17 on the supercharger.

It’s a little over due for an oil change so I’m going to hold off driving it to work until that’s done and then get some highway miles on it.

I want to get a few hundred miles, at least, before taking it to New Mexico.

I can see axles first supercharger later.

Also, you’re truck is light. Mine is fat.

All I want is to be able to keep up with traffic.

That makes too much sense. We should break upgrade some other stuff on your truck to make up for it, and bring that trip up to the usual level of excitement
