Tricare for dependants and veterans/retirees is totally different than it is for active duty members unfortunately.

Right now though.... ive had half a million dollars worth of procedures done and the most in paid was 12$ when i asked for a second dinner the night I had to stay in the hospital

This may be the case. It also may depend on the area you are in. They started closing down all the military health facilities within 3 hours of me so I had to travel for completely covered care (which is not practical in an emergency). Then I ended up moving to a non-military area and had to fight constantly to maintain a PCP that was covered along with fight to get my surgeries covered with out of network surgeons.

I don't feel it should be that way. Especially because my premium as a dependent was $400/mo.

Tricare is an HMO, which is a nightmare outside of military providers. When you are active duty obviously you will always be in an area with covered providers and get easy access to care.

I'm glad an active duty individual feels that way. We need to take care of our military.

@suaveflooder My mountain experience was humbling to say the least. I hiked over 30 miles last week with about 10,000ft in elevation gain.

I was unable to summit any 14ers. My best friend and I were about the only ones in our group fit enough to do it and the ridges and elevation gain were pretty insane (a lot of scree and some technical climbing). Knee said unless I wanted a repeat surgery, don't do it.

It's so odd to be able to do an 18 mile trail run one week and feel beastly, and then the next week do a 8 mile hike that makes me realize I'm only about 50% recovered.

My father in law who lives in CO was with us and inviting us back to Vail to ski for the week of Christmas. Yeah.... not gonna happen. I can already hear the sound of bones snapping thinking about it.

I decided I will not pursue the Silver Rush 50 next year. I will do a 50M in Dec to check that box.
My knee cannot do straight up 2,000 ft and then 2,000ft straight back down 4 times in 50 miles.

    Maybe one day, but now.

My experience is similar. Not as extreme as you with distance or activity, but I can feel like a monster one day and limping the next. I hope this is just time.

    Same here.

Docs act like running is the ultimate test of the knee but it's really not.

My quad is getting there but the last week really has made me feel like I'm 50% of baseline in terms of strength.

We will get there eventually. Just gotta keep On keepin :)

    wow!!!! Beautiful pic!

I was cleared 100% on Friday. Now back to work. Haha!! I am so out of shape, so this may be interesting. I’m stronger than I was before, but I am currently at a 9 min/mile time which is horrendous. That’s what I get for basically not running for a year. I was just re cleared to run again two weeks ago. He pulled me off of it after a couple weeks because of quad pain

My brother's and sisters... Please pray for me going through this difficult time. My fiance left me 20 days before our wedding. She found love with someone else. I have never been hurt so badly in my life and I cannot figure why this had to happen to me. All the love I've given for 5.5 years... All for nothing.

I will remain strong, it will take me awhile to gather all the pieces that my body broke into. I am just at a loss. Scared, anxious, nervous, worried, depressed, question everything... I don't know.

    Wow, burn :bananadead:
I guess my 6 miler this morning at 9:30/mile was just a waste of time lol

Glad to hear you were cleared!

Blue Lakes trail (lower lake) towards Mt. Sneffels in Ridgeway, CO just outside of Ouray. It took us about an hour and 45 to hike in.

lol, let me give you some perspective.....I ran 1/2 mile total!! Haha! It would have gotten much worse as time went on. Minimum mile time is 9:30 min/mile and the distance is a mile and a half, so a total time of 14:15. Haha! Not happening for me in two weeks

I’ve been there. It sucks! Just keep your head about you. Don’t rush trying to move on and don’t rush not hurting. Take life one day at a time and STAY BUSY with things you enjoy doing. This is a fantastic time to rekindle friendships and family time. Praying for you.

I’m very sorry to hear this news. :(
It’s not all for nothing...you had shared amazing times together and one day you hopefully will be able to look back and be grateful for them. The process of letting go and getting your heart to move on isn’t easy but will happen. Trust me, I know. In the mean time, go through what needs to be gone through and acknowledge what is. Surround yourself with those who love you and try to keep busy doing what speaks to you.

Hang in there brother, some of us know the feelings you have inside right now. Remember, you’re not alone in this. We know you’re not only strong outside, but resilient and strong inside as well. All the best,

    T
