I got a lot done on the bed today. I made the long cut, flipped the sheet over, dropped the floor into the bed, spot welded some, flipped the bed over, and finished the rest of the spot welds. Next up: weld in the bed supports, get rid of the rust, seal the underside of the bed, flip it over one last time, bedline it with Raptor, and attack my frame! I’m getting there...

Rich, I moved this over here to keep the trip thread clean.

Congratulations on your CDL! I'm not sure if I was reading that correctly or not. So are you driving regional right now?

That's all the ash I got after burning a bag of the Vermont pellets. They also burn really hot--I think I'll be happy with them this year!

Generally speaking, how do pellets compare price wise with just burning wood? Assuming similiar set ups.

If you pay for cut and split wood I think the cost is approximately the same but the pellets are easier to deal with.

Compared to oil, I am basically able to keep the house warmer for the same cost. With the oil I was always messing with the thermostat to see how low I could go without it being unbearable. With the pellets, I don't worry about it and just burn them enough to make the house warm and comfortable. I burn about 200 gallons of oil and 3 tons of pellets per winter now.

Yeah, they do look convenient compared to my woodpile and lugging wood upstairs. Of course, I'm not complaining about the woodstove in the house I rented-it is ridiculously tight. I burned 3 pieces of wood last night and the house was still 70 degrees this morning.

I was under the impression (long time ago) that one ton of pellets is one and a half cord. Cost really depends on what you get. I paid 245 for one ton of cheaper ones, I’ll go back for a 2nd skid but those will be 270 I think for what I call a hotter pellet. I have always used the cheaper kinds, burn about 2 pallets a year. Last year I got one skid of the hotter pellets as that’s all they had, and there were days we couldn’t keep the pellet stove on, so I used a little more oil than normal.

Thats what my parents do. Burn wood at night and on weekends. Probably about 300 gallons of oil (1 and a half tanks approximately per winter) and about 2 cords of wood

Similar to my folks. Wood while at home. Neat little pusher fans blow the heat down the hallway.

    Oil when gone.

Nope. Guy 1 asked to pick them up Thursday, gave him a window and said I was free most of Friday. Read the message and no reply. Guy #2 couldn’t pick up Thursday said he’d pick them up Friday, no reply. Guy #3 said he’d pick them up Friday or first thing Saturday. I messaged him mid-day Saturday and asked what the deal was, read my message and no reply. Guy #4 wanted to look at them today, told him early today or early afternoon, said he’d be here in the afternoon, no reply.

I’m not going to chase people down, but this is ridiculous.

At this point I don’t even adjust my schedule for people, but at least make something up about why you couldn’t come.

I wouldn't either especially nowadays. At least when people show up and like to nitpick or whatnot you might get some funny stories about it

I used my remote starter for the first time this morning. Apparently it turns the heated seats and heated steering wheel on. Also first time using those and holy hell, they are amazing. Never thought a heated steering wheel was a thing I wanted, but damn it is nice.
