I needed a desk. I cheated and bought an 8 foot birch butcher block. So not technically “woodworking”. Stained it ebony and applied a few coats of satin poly. After a ton of sanding and polishing I got the finish to where I wanted it.

The butcher block is 1.75” thick and I used some 3/4” black iron pipe for the legs. It came out super strong and weighs about 120 lbs.

The legs probably look a little funky being off to one side, but I did that intentionally to fit additional chair at the end.

Timber framer here, just finished up this structural truss today66C1F95C-5A37-41C4-ADEB-B7C82F277DDB.jpg59032D0C-4C7E-4FEA-BF38-DBA50C55D39E.jpg The king post is one piece and is housed in that scissor-lap joint. A ridge beam will go over the top of this truss and will be notched to fit.

This was yesterday, it’s was raising day, we cut all the joints and timbers by hand in shop and deliver to site. no CNC. All pegs, no metal other than the timberlocks to hold the rafters in their housings and the post brackets in the concrete.:thumbsup:F7CB1474-105D-479D-A841-E62C4D7C00A7.jpg5BD355E3-8C56-44E5-8597-6CA285454F17.jpg 7E493F8A-1A6F-43D8-B336-60EBA0E715D8.jpg49546ED3-8B95-408B-9E9A-B4E62483C0E3.jpg
