Ok, I have several scenarios which I would like to know how to react to if they ever happen again.

    Scenario 1:
Me and some friends are talking about cars, and about automatic vs. manual transmissions. Now, everyone agrees that manuals are better. Me and the second guy drive autos as DD cars, the third drives a manual honda civic. We were talking about shifting/clutching or something like that when the stick guy says to me something like "you drive an auto so you can't talk". I got P.O'd here, because I drive a stick once in a while. I'm not pro at it, but I can handle it fairly well. I guess part of what ticked me off was that the guy was kinda going into an elitist attitude about sticks vs. autos. What do you you do when someone starts dissing your setup? Sure, I'd like a stick, but I have an auto. I'm not giving him crap for having a 1.6 liter engine, whereas I have a 2.7, of course if I did, then he'd launch into how I have zero torque, no horsepower, etc because I have a 4 banger truck. So...wwyd?

    Scenario 2:
I was talking to a friend, asking if he was 'going to go get stuck in the snow'. He's like yea, probably. Then he's all like I wouldn't advise you to try it...you'd probably go 2 feet then slip off a cliff and die. This guy has a 4x4 Ford Ranger, several performance mods, 33 bfg mud tires, and a 3 inch body lift. He likes to make fun of how I only have a 4x2, and it gets annoying at times. What do you do to combat comments like these? I'd like to have 4x4, but I'll make do with what I have for now. advice?

fun fact: according to the guy in scenario 2, an all terrain tire is another name for a POS. *if you don't run mudding tires, your running sh*t I guess*:notsure:

My first car was an auto...nissan 240sx. This doosh in my dorm used to give me crap...he drove a manual civic. I pointed out that my car was still faster than his...that shut him up.

ha ha, sweet. well, idk if maybe I could outdo the civic,:D about the only mods it has are a lowering kit, and some loud exhaust setup.

The Ranger is a v6...even stock I couldn't outdo it.

when people give me crap about my truck i laugh. i could careless about what they think about it. but for the honda guy i would just say like i would like to see you go fast in dirt. or just call him a ricer. ask him if VTEC just kicked in yo. and for the ranger guy well most are a&%holes but you can always say like at least i have a more reliable truck then yours or say like the only reason you need 4x4 is cuz you don't know how to drive real men know how to go offroading without it and not get stuck. (not to dis you guys with 4x4 cuz i would love it i just say that to get people off my back for having 4x2)

His ranger probably has the POS 4.0L, your 2.7 will probably smoke it (on a closed course/race track).

Honestly just blow it off, don't take it seriously and just have fun with it. My roommate and I are constantly dissing on each others trucks (he has a 1986 Nissan Hardbody) and its all fun. I make fun of the fact that his leaks a quart of oil a month and he says I have a girl truck since its white lol.

His 1.7 litre has more torque than a 2.7 litre?
Also, real men get around just fine without 4x4

    1. I drive an auto as a DD but can drive a stick with the best of 'em. Just cause he drives a stick, doesn't mean he's any good at it. On the road, an auto will shift faster than a stick in most cases (obviously when you go high end sports cars, there's big advantages to a manual, even they are meeting halfway with semi-autos now). Anyone driving a Honda shouldn't even mention torque and horsepower... Your response should have been, you're car has no power, so you can't talk.
    2. He's driving a Ford Ranger with a body lift... Too cheap for the suspension lift? The reason he's got so many performance mods is because the stock Ford crap all quit on him and he had to start replacing parts like wildfire. Don't worry, his truck will die soon enough (unless it's the older 3.0, that actually was a decent motor). As far as the 4x4 vs 4x2... I've got a 4x4 and would put good money on the fact that people here with 4x2s will put their trucks through things I'd think twice about attempting. Even in 2wd, these trucks are very capable machines!
    3. Get new friends who drive Tacomas!

Scenario 1: Punch him in the face. Then remind him he drives a civic and that you've drank sodas larger than his engine.

Scenario 2: Punch him in the face. Then remind him he drives a ford that wont make it out of the driveway to go get stuck anywhere.

normally I would say the difference between a 2x4 and a 4x4 is the distance you have to walk to the tow truck... in this case, im not sure the ranger will be reliable enough to even make it on the trail... as for the civic, does he have enough nos to blow himself up? if not then he should watch fast and the furious a few times... maybe then he will realize there is no replacement for displacement... charger owns all ricers... but what do I know I have a blown corn mobile (domestic 4 banger and supercharged for when you have to explain it to your ricer buddy)

    This site is great:

    Yea, ignoring them works sometimes.

    I think it might be a 4.0L

Blowing it off would be best..
Man, white hides the scratches better that any other color :D

    :D

    lol

    I could've probably used that 1st arguement.
    That's cool.

    1. good info, that may shut him up someday :D
    2. yea, he was a little cheap...but he wants to get a suspension lift someday. He get terrible gas mileage with the thing...around 12 mpg
    3. :D

    1. Never thought of it like that
    2.

    :proposetoast:

Don't worry, there's a guy that hangs around me and my friends. He drives a 2005 Hyundai Sonata and he talk's shit about my Taco behind my back, because he knows that i could destroy him in automotive knowledge, he only talks about it to my friend's that don't know much about vehicles they always shut him down when he tries to. Just ignore them, they wish they had a Taco...

Seriously though, you started a thread about this? Get back to me when your question is my GF is missing her "crimson tide".
