I was always under the impression that most intakes caused a lean condition due to the fact more air is introduced with less fuel. I would assume in this case the MAF over compensates?

i dont want a decrease of power. I want something that will give me a little more power and sound. i know that K&N is not cold air,but there is a member here that will sell me K&N intake, the one with black tubing used for 150. this is hard decision. which one would you guys pick? volant for 170, or K&N for 150? i have heard good and bad things about both

I would stay stock on the air box (as mentioned already, stock IS cold-air), and save up for something else.

Yeah CAI's are really only good if you can put the truck on a Dyno and re-tune the ECM.
If the truck had say 6.2L v8, that could actually suck some air, i could see buying CAI.
Short of that, not for me!

Ya I've got the volant because I got a good deal on it as well, but don't expect any power from just an intake. Some people say the volant will trigger a check engine light, but in the last 3 years I've been good.

You will get noise though if that's all you are looking for (mostly just when you are getting on it).
