how are you liking running the skinny tires vs the 285’s? My 6112 lift goes in early next month. Currently have 265/70/17 with some tread left. I’m not opposed to cmc

I’m going back and forth between 275/70/17 , 285/70 or 255’s. Seems like a case for each could be made.

First off not all pizza cutters are tall. Only the Toyo 255/85/16 MT are 33.5" tall, the BFG are all about 32.8" So you might not need a cab chop and all the trimming I did. I'm am running mid travel Radflo setup with 1" extra Droop and no sway bar. I really like the extra height and if I rotate every 3k miles with Mud Tires I can get 40k plus miles on them. they are quieter to run because they are thinner and the 85 side wall gives me a huge contact patch aired down. I haven't popped a bead knock on wood off road either or gotten any sidewall cuts in 90k miles. There will be more options for 17" rims now but the pizza cutters for 17" aren't as tall. I need need max clearance because I'm wheeling with people with 37" tires.

This is my 3rd set of Toyo MT's which only take between 1-3oz for balancing which is amazing. I had MTR's and dumped them after 3500 miles because 4 were out of round out of 6 tires I went through and they needed between 4-13oz to balance. I had KM2 in 265/75/16 and after 5k miles they started to cup and get noisy so dumped those plus I needed a taller tire. I tried the Milestar Pantagonia MT in 285/75/16 which were suppose to be 33.1 but ended up being 32.25" tall and worthless with my 4.88 gears. So I just dumped them after 3k miles and went back to Toyo MT.

***** Caution - Toyo MT Pizza cutters are 33.4" and will not fit in the spare tire location if you really wheel even cutting the two tire supports and strapping it back towards bumper. Tire will rub on hard on rear Diff and hang up on diff guard.
285/75/17 will have the same problem at 34" *****

    Latest setup with AT Habitat.

Handle mounts for Dometic CF35 to CF110 and Handle Bars for CF80/CF110. Paid $108 shipped from Australia as that's the only place you can find them. Ended up going a different route. Brand new, never used. Just opened packaging for pictures. $100.

Valuable info- and you wheel Arizona a bunch I assume- so the more narrow tires haven't held you back in this terrain at all right? Snow too? How about running those 255's on an 16 x8 wheel?
I'm sure there's a thread on this somewhere but...

Still have these KC Flex pods for sale. 2 lights with 4 pods each. Plug and play ready to go. KC doesn’t sell them in 4 pod lights like this, we custom ordered these. The lights are completely modular and you can buy the bus bars from them to turn this into a single light bar, double pods, singles etc. The red rings can be removed and pained or replaced with a different color. KC retails each pod around $100. $600 for both.

8" rim will be no problem if you look at the spec of 255 tires. The Toyo have sipping for snow but some other like my KM2 did not. So that need to be verified for your specific tire.

Also I forgot to mention that I am Running FJ rims which have a back spacing of 4.5 vs 3.5 for Tacoma rims. So my wheels are out about 1". I had to do this for my lift and to clear the aftermarket UCA's.

There is a 235/85/16 pizza cutter also but it's pretty thin.

Tire is kinda junk anyways so it goes with the rim. But I should be home all next weekend for you to come grab it. Just pm me later in the week for more details and we can figure out a price.
