I dont want you to lose hope, but my good friend's grandparents lost their home at 27 rocky point road. I'm not sure they are allowing people back up in that are right now. Fires are still burning pretty close to forbestown right now. I will talk to my friend and see what his grandparents know about that area. I hope your grandpa's cabin is still there.

I know the fire went through that area the first night. I saw a few homes standing where the fire crossed the road between springer road and enterprise boat launch. Might check with Butte county sheriffs website also.

There’s probably a time or two you wishes your channel lock jaws were parallel or that your itty bitty hands could open just a tiny bit more too.

These things are amazing, come in different sizes too. More tools to buy!

I’m just up the road and would be happy to. Message me once the area is opened back up and I’ll swing up there.

Knipex are hands down worth every penny. How many times have you dropped a pair of Channel Locks and had to reset the size? Yeah, that doesn't happen with Knipex. They stand behind the lifetime warranty. My 6" Cobra pliers are what I carry in my bags as a carpenter. Last year I had an old 1 1/4" hold down nut that wouldn't come off. I grabbed it with those tiny Cobra's and beat the nut off with my hammer. It came loose after about 12 swings. I didn't break them but I did screw up the slide lock on them. I emailed Knipex, sent them a photo and had a new pair in 3 days. lol

    I've got 7. There's 5 hiding in this photo.

Monster Jam had a few trucks at UTI (ps...dont get a UTI)...i stood up wit a bunch of kids to see who could hold up a tool for the longest time. Obviously its mind over matter. I even held the last guys junk for him but he couldn't keep it up. I won a pair of these. So badass

We we're gone 7 days. Had a great trip. Wife loved it. Already have ideas for the next trip(s). And may have convinced her that we don't need to live in this shit hole too much longer... all in all, a very good trip.

Jen already has realtors calling from Utah

    That's awesome.
I've always thought Utah would be a great stop for a few years before I move back east

My company is opening a division in SLC. I'm on the short list of people that will be asked to transfer. Not sure what the timeline is though. Property being purchased, but I don't know how long until projects will be up and running.

We're thinking about the possibility of moving there, getting somewhat established, and then trying to do something on our own in the Moab area. Jen and I were talking during the trip. And we both seem to have very similar ideas about how we could make it work.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Nevada and Utah have always been in my retirement (from the Air Force) running. I think it'll be after kids move out in 15 years now, but they are still there. Colorado and Tennessee have also jumped into the conversation based on taxes...

You guys covered a lot of ground in 2 weeks!

I have my eyes on Salt Lake City myself. I'd love to be in a more rural area but that's where the jobs will be for me.
I could live outside the city and commute in but I hate commuting far. I guess if it's a nice enough spot I'd be cool.

I've seen a few vacant lots outside the city that a shipping container house would fit nicely on.
    Something like this
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLsuwNfRU_8

That house when complete sold for $75K.

I could totally live in that as long as I had a large garage/barn/workshop.

I have two different friends who have moved to Tennessee. They LOVE it. One of them is retired the other is an over the road 48 State trucker. It fits their money earning/professional situations much better than mine.

Colorado, to me, is a lot like California. Would be a great place to visit but I don't want to live there.

If I had my way, we would move to Wyoming when we fully retire. The absolute best combination of Taxes, estate planning, etc in the US. I think Utah is the best combination for OUR situation. Especially with some of the plans we would like to explore in Moab.
