Check the connectors on the differential,

Top one is the power for the coil that activates the diff lock, and the bottom one is for the position sensor.

If it's not a bad connection there, is may be that the position sensor is pooched.

@Norilsk damaged his position sensor a while ago, he may have some good info on this...

@honkonbobo had a stick poke up and unplug his actuator, so his would flash and not engage.

I only remember because it was when he came up on VMUTS last year :cookiemonster:

Well, you drove out without axle right? Cause your wheel hub got messed up I remember? Did you leave diff portion open then? If so, water/mud got in and everything needs to be taken apart cleaned up/flushed/possibly actuator has to be replaced.
Time to save for 1 tons, we can do our SAS together! :spending::sawzall::welder:

As others have said, check the actuators in the 4x4 system (at the tcase and front diff). Could be a wheel sensors or a harness as well.

I have a front add actuator if you want to diagnose shit. Can plug mine in versus throwing parts at yours.

It’s in getting bilstein leveling shocks, rims and tires tomorrow
Also have a Borla S type exhaust, which I want to sell again, kind of disappointed by it to be honest, I did come from a 2018 Sierra that had longtube headers and was straight piped so the Tacoma can’t really compete lol

    lol

Damn and I went and just cut the stock to dump at the axle :cookiemonster:

Now it cant get squished on the trails :fistbump:

I would be impressed if you could get your taco to compete with the sound of those larger trucks.

    *Edit*
What tires you go with?? :boink:

To be honest it’s my only complaint about it... but I knew I was getting a 6 cylinder when I bought it ‍♂️ Also i have been looking at roof racks, the prinsu is nice but getting it to Canada hurts the wallet, does anyone know of the best site to buy it from or if there is another rack that’s cheaper and good quality as well?

I left the part of the cv in the axle so nothing got in the front diff. Thinking it’s either transmission actuator or hoping front diff actuator going to have to take a look at those this weekend. But almost thinking the transfer case is stuck in 4 high but just has not engaged my front drive shaft some how as that is why my 4wd is blinking constantly I think. Just replaced cv axle, wheel bearing and abs wheel sensor. Saving for a house so sas is out of the question for now but maybe one day.

Most likely it's your ABS sensor then, @pete37 had his wire damaged one time and truck would not engage 4x4 and have similar symptoms as you got now. If you have scanner see if you can read signal from the sensor. The sensor may either be faulty on installed wrong.

Would the sensor on the top of my diff (the coil to activate diff lock) cause my whole 4wd system not to work? Wondering as I do know that sensor was kind of siliconed together when they did my gears as sensor was a bit messed up but could not get a new one in time for a trip I had planned so they put it together and siliconed it the best they could.

I just installed A new abs wheel sensor today and all abs lights cleared them self’s. Cruise and all that works again so I don’t think it can be the sensor

Is this the one they damaged? If so, it does not affect your 4x4 or locker, all it does is indicate if you are locked or not, which I bypassed and directly connected switch to ECU and flip when I lock to avoid having it flashing.
