I’m gonna stir the pot on this one just because it’s fun... how about ditching the stock outer hub and replace with a D44 snout

 

How big a sponsor sticker do you want to put on the side of my truck in exchange for providing the snouts and hubs?

 

I got all my stuff from the junk yard for $200. The Chevy d44 solid axle is 6x5.5 lug pattern too- same as Toyota

 

Yeah, I thought about that too. Unfortunately I thought about it after I ordered a set of custom axles...

If I break too many OEM hubs I'm going to upgrade it to the D44 though, and that's good to know about the chevy snout.

 

Still need to call Solo to see if it would work on a narrower set up but there XLT kit (+4.5) uses 44 snouts. To wide for my desires. But that may be what is need to run a U-Joint on the outer end. Being a former Ford guy I do like your TTB direction.

 

U-joints bind and break (depending on the style of wheeling) rcv outers

 

I'd like to know more about this right here and I we could get an outer birfields made for the 44 snout to go with the axles we have ​

 

Going to a u-joint would not be the objective for myself but the ability to have a selectable hub.

 

Go for it I love lock outs ? gotmmm on mine only problem not strong enought for 35" tire and hard wheeling , But what about the ABS ring ? Atrac ?

Are there any threads out there for guys self installing? Running into some gaps once bolted up and ready to be tacked in. Really big gaps

 

You gotta grind it to fit. It will not be a perfect fit on first bolt up. What do consider to be big gaps?
