    Morning, Hoomans.
Why 12; are you splitting for multiple people? We used to do that much when we were filling the sugarhouse and my grandmother's woodsheds, and I don't particularly miss those days.

4 for this year cat and split, 4 for next year just cut and stacked.
    2 were sold 240$
And 2 I'm still messing with but not in any hurry.
I had to dump 10 giant oaks from the dam gypsy moths.
Left 8 telephone poles in the yard though cause that's to much wood!
Better to let stand and dry then leave on the ground to rot.
Besides I have no more room for it:rofl:

Can you burn telephone poles? I've had a stack of them in my yard since I bought the house but I thought they were treated with something that you wouldn't necessarily want to burn. I cut them up in 6' sections and they've been stacked now for the better part of a decade.

No I was just referring to the left over trees standing about half way up as telephone poles.
Do not burn actual telephone poles they have oil in them.

That's what I thought and why they've just been sitting in a pile behind my house. I thought they had something nasty in them that wouldn't end well if burned. I guess I'll wait another 50 years for them to rot away!

They are very useful for bridge making out on the trail.
You might be able to donate them to ENH guys.
    Ask @ecgreen

Chuck them up on craigslist for 5$ each. :p Someone might actually pay for them, otherwise free is fine too. It's amazing what people will take when you put it up for a cost rather than free. We left a few wicked old CRT TVs in the driveway in OOB for free, sat for a few days. I flipped the sign over and wrote "10$/ea" and they were 'stolen' within an hour.

That works too. If someone has a good use for them, for sure! Them things are heavy though. Lugging them out into the trails blows.

We have trucks and man power, @ecgreen was wanting to maintain some trails last year but I don't know if he got around to it.

We used them for a few bridges in the trails back home, bridges came out awesome but good lord. To be fair....they were 4x15' sections for a ravine..... o_O

Definitly not. They are soaked in chemicals to deter rot, and periodically re-coated. When a utility is retiring an asset (in this case pole) and a landowner wants any of them the landowner is made to sign a bunch of legal agreements indicating they wont burn it, and if they do the utility is not held liable.

Good idea, guys! Even in 6' sections, they're heavy as hell! One rolled down the embankment when I was trying to restack them, I very briefly tried to get it back up the hill but gave up.

I love it when TW unsubs me from my own threads!

@tcBob can we make it so if you create a thread you don't get unsubed from it unless you choose to? Is that possible?

Aha, I see. I was wondering how poorly insulated your house was  That's where I got some of my oak for next winter; a guy had taken down a good-sized tree because of the Browntails and I just cleaned it up for him

True. And they last forever if you take care of them.

Ya, but that’s OOB, this place is in a league of it own, and I don’t think it’s a good league.
