Picked up my truck today after having an ARB grille guard and Warn winch installed. I got home and couldn't find the clutch lever. I finally found it where it's totally inaccessible. This is my first winch, but it seems to me that it was installed improperly. The first pic is taken looking down toward the top of my grille guard, the second from the ground looking up. So, bad installation?
    Tnx,
    Carl

I have the same setup. These ARB’s require you to rotate the housing on the winch (also known as “clocking”) so the lever is reachable from the top. I’ve got a warn 8000-S and I was able to rotate it while still mounted fairly easy. But to answer your question, yes bad installation, they should have clocked your winch. It’s in the instructions.

The grille guard and winch were chosen by the installer. C1814CD5-FD1B-4C50-9DA1-822D6E61B3A1.jpg3398AFCC-7353-48BA-9931-08BE6519E03B.jpg

pdaddy......Whew, I'm glad to hear that! I'm going back to the shop tomorrow to talk to them about it because they neglected to leave the instruction manual in the truck. I was afraid the whole installation would have to be done over. I'll need them to show me how to "clock" the winch! Thanks, I feel much better now :)

Yes sir, here’s a good link for the instructions on 05-11 Tacoma’s. Page 8 has the portion about clocking the winch. Best of luck:thumbsup:

Tnx, pdaddy! How did you manage to clock the winch without removing it???? You said it was fairly easy. Well, I've printed out the instructions and am taking them with me, just in case! Since they also screwed up the wiring for the lights in the bar, I'm probably going to have to hang out to make sure they get it all fixed. I'll let you know how it turns out :)

I removed the Allen bolts on the winch, pulled out the gearbox a few millimeters, and rotated it. Some of the bolts are at weird angles to get the Allen wrench but it ain’t bad

pdaddy, G'mornin' Fortunately the shop got right on it (I was there before they'd opened for the day). It took them an hour to clock the winch and rewire one of the turn/marker lights. The design on the clutch handle on this brand new 8S is apparently a bit different and there wasn't enough clearance to simply rotate the end piece. They had to pull it off and realign it. But it was simple for them :) Thanks very much for input. It was nice to know what I was talking about when I explained the problem. :)
