I believe these are good. I have a friend who’s doing research at Michigan on tinnitus and I’m pretty sure these are the ones she recommended to me

Edit: I went and found her message. She didn’t give me a specific brand, but she said buy etymotic earplugs. Which I think are the same design as those

Didn't mean to come across snarky. I think the fact you were unfamiliar with moto recalls is likely a matter of numbers. When an auto maker has recall the numbers are almost always big. Tarkata airbags ring a bell? A big recall in the bike industry rarely hits 100k units as most manufacturers don't even produce that many of a given model in one year. Harley has had recalls for clutch issues, brake issues, poorly routed fuel lines, and more. In the 90's Triumph had a bunch of bad coils and issued a recall. Not long after they had to do it again as the replacements were also faulty! Stuff happens and anything with the shear nimber of parts a vehicle contains some inferior stuff is bound to squeak through.

How are you putting the foam ones in? Twisting/rolling them so they thin and then put in your ear canal is the correct way. Ive never had a set fall out but a long day (5+hr) with them does make my ears ache

I could easily be using them the wrong way. I always just stuffed them in and hoped for the best. Good to know, I might be able to wear them more in the garage instead of my muffs, or keep a spare set on the bike just in case.

Little tip for you guys regarding ear plugs. Moisten them first with just a little bit of Neosporin and your ears won't get as sore. Learned this from some Iron Butt Rally veterans as they are using ear plugs for long periods of hours for days at a time.

ah yes that is the wrong way, ha. lay it flat in your palm and then roll it in between your palms. stick the thin end in your ear obviously. i like to pull up on my ear from the top with my opposite hand because it makes it easier

    https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/mining/content/earplug.html

hmm, mines been more of an ache from the pressure of them than a scuff or anything.

Any recommendations on a good trail bike for my wife? She is 5'3"-ish and has zero riding experience. I'd really like to get her an 85cc two stroke so I can hooligan around on it, but I fear that may be too much for her to handle. Leaning toward a 2016 CRF150 or 2019-2020 KLX140. Thoughts?

a 2stroke with the proper gearing and clutch work can be a great woods bike

but for out the door gas and go, those four strokes are very forgiving machines

i had a kl125l for some years that took a beating and a half, Kawi has since replaced that model with their klx140, my cousins have one that also gets jumped in ways it shouldnt and it is a tank of a play bike for sure...

never ridden the crf150, but have ridden countless honda 50/70/80/100 xr/crfs and they all are fantastic starter bikes as well as for experienced rider play bikes

i dont think you can go wrong for the most part with any japanese 4 stroke trail bike, i would go with name brand preference and price/condition, dare i say they all damn near identical at that level

Stop looking for bikes that I want for my 5’3 wife! :p Or if you find one at least let her ride it to see if she likes it! KlX140L is what you want.

it does sound expensive, but considering it should give you 20-50k miles without a rebuild.... if they advertised msrp at 2k it would be a gift and 3k is basically a grom

considering a new grom price, imho the trail is more economical / utilitarian as a form of transportation
