I wanted to figure out a way to create another income stream, and found dividends.

I bought a Tacoma and then I bought nrgu.

I’ve been passively investing for a while. Betterment Roth IRA and betterment taxable. They’re an account management company though so they take a cut. Finally earned enough to toss a few hundred at my own hand and I’ve done mediocre. I still give to betterment and the boring passive stuff would be easy to take on myself. Just need to make that a cats transfer and be done with it.

your goal will dictate your strategy. I’m trying to retire at 50 if we don’t have kids. That means I’m not focusing as much on my IRA as an individual taxable. Once I hit 40 I’ll probably stop contributing to my IRA. That timeline also lets me adapt should we have spawns.

it doesn’t all come overnight. It takes time and once you think you know what’s going on, you’ll learn there’s another cave behind where you just got to with way more.

Oh. And don’t talk politics here.

    I have control issues.
It's always bothered me that the guy or firm managing my IRA had no skin in the game. They just take a cut whether their investments perform or not.
I figured I'd educate myself and handle it myself.
I left all the old stuff where it was (with my brother in law) and rolled my last 401k in to a Webull IRA. Also put some savings into another account so I could play with options and stuff.
So far, I'm slightly outperforming the brother in law thanks to the cooties dip.

Oh yea, and I read these books, mostly before I put money into the market but some since. Some I’ll read some more times to remind me (notably: Rich Dad Poor Dad, The Richest Man in Babylon).

Does Elon hate his own company? Someone needs to take that asshats twitter account away.

A few hours ago he tweeted that TSLA would still be buying batteries from Panasonic until 2022. That's when TSLA expects to have full capacity to build it's own. That sent the stock down about 6% after hours and completely hosed my plan. The plan was to dump all my calls tomorrow. You see battery day doesn't start until after market close tomorrow. That means that people would have been buying up shares until close. Now that asshat dropped the bomb early I'll be loosing a ton instead of making it. lol

He doesn’t really care I guess, and that’s interesting as I believe his pay is based on increasing market cap. Or maybe he just doesn’t think about how what he says will sound to investors.

I've never read any of those books.:anonymous:

I just enjoy spending what I make on my side gigs and just banked my regular job savings after bills. The rest went in savings plans and I forgot about them for 25 years. Next thing I knew, I am retiring at 53.

Wanna know what I learned from all of those books, and all of the other studying I’ve done? I’ve learned to do exactly what you did. You can skip the books if you’ve already done it.

He's smarter then not knowing his tweets will have an affect on stock price. I'm hoping he's just tickling the bears again. Then Tuesday evening he drops some positive bomb that shoots the stock price right back up. He likes to play games like that so it's a possibility. It's also a sure fire way to have the SEC all over his ass again. lol

I'm waiting for October to decide about selling off to hold, but most likely will keep everything as is...Right now I'm still split between betterment and tossed a bunch at SPHD/SDIV/DIV, so I'll just keep those too.

Wealth manager called yesterday and recommended putting stop losses on entire account. Agreed and hope they don't hit But if the market pulls another March , it will be nice Not to be stuck holding the bag again.

well china had massive floods that ruined a ton of good crops and tons of provinces have no rice/wheat/ruinedcrops. So they are looking to import massively tons and tons of food.
lots of growers I personally know from mexico just didnt plant anything because they werent sure what to do, and prices for alot of products are not that great with restaurants limping along in much of the country.
Food prices especially on fresh veggies and the like will probably increase a bit.

the overall out look/volume for fresh vegetables out of mexico during this winter
is going to be very low.

Like with all things its hard to see how this will affect other areas but it doesnt look good and there will probably be some unforseen consequences.

Dont be surprised to just have to learn to do without a few fresh items from dec to february.

So there wont be food shortages per-se but prices will be noticeably up with tons of food distributors cut out of the picture.
