also, fixing the roof (it's only one nail that needs to be driven out and hole filled)....basement leaks, yes...it's an old house, there no stopping that. it's been standing since 1948, so there is that.

My sister in law needs to shit her damn kid out ASAP so I cam get my wife down here so we can start house hunting.

 

where in Hickory are you looking? Off 127 towards Lake Hickory would be a good spot...think my aunt might be selling their house up there soon.

Yea the north side. I'm putting a 30mile radius around hickory for the realtor. I like the town so far, seems big yet small at the same time.

I'm not too too worried about buying, its selling back in IL. I just hate being in an apartment (day 4 LOL) and want to start looking bad!! I already miss my truck....

yeah that's the area I was talking about. My aunt lives just across the bridge on 127. Know the area very well. Grew up in Conover, right near Riverbend Park, just 15mins from where you are at.

 

GF grew up in Maiden, it's pretty rural, but a lot of nice homes with land out that way. Wouldn't be too far from your work.

 

I was "emotionally" attached to mine. I bought a shanti of sorts that I quite literally transformed so I had a lot of sweat and blood equity in the house that was a little tough to leave. I knew it was never going to be my forever home but still felt weird selling it and I wish I didn't have too. Plus when I bought I was 24 still.

Now I've been trying to figure out where I want to "retire" too and find a plot of land and build. Retire aka kiddo is 18 and I'm kicking her out the nest.

NC allows that other than a pastor? I know some states don't. My brother had to do some sort of certificate in OR to officiate my sister's wedding. All I wanted to do was ski and hike Mt. Hood (where they got married) but doing so with a then 1 yr old was a little difficult

 

Money WELL spent!!

 

My wife and I did that before we were married. We actually had the lawyer draft up a contract that if we split prior to marriage how the house proceeds would be divided up, and what the alternatives were.

 

zero attachment to my house, it was cool the first year...then it got to be tedious keeping shit up and constantly fixing something.
