Pre filter.

What pre- filter do you guys run with the Safari snorkel?

 

The only one that I found that works on it is this one. I have friend that have bought it. It’s because of the size. All the other ones that are on places like Amazon for $20 are for 3” openings and the arb ones have a 4”. Tractor Supply sales and cares them.
They do pop up on amazon but I have missed it for $50. They go fast when they are on there and this is the part number for it. But remember it’s for the real Safari arb ones

 

I wonder what company this one is. I can't seem to find any info on it beside maybe an AEV.

 

One day when I have more time I was going to order the Toyota OEM Pre Filter and see if it fit/make it fit. Here is a link to another thread.

there are several makers of these. just measure your intake OD and get the one to fit. Tornado is probably the biggest name, made for construction equipment. If the ARB intake is 4" OD, here you go, $40

Thread revival. @tacotruck93, did you end up getting a pre-filter? If so, which one? I'm torn between the Enginaire 61513 and Sy-Klone 9001. I'm mostly worried about effective filtration at lower airflows, since I'm not gonna be redlining in adverse conditions where the pre-filter is really needed. The Sy-Klone is rated at a minimum of 100 cfm and the Enginaire at 75 cfm, roughly corresponding to 1700 rpm and 1300 rpm respectively.

My choice of pre-filter will drive which snorkel I get, since the Enginaire is 3 inch and the Sy-Klone is 4 inch.

 

I did not wanted to wait till I could set some money aside. In the winter I just turn it the other way when it snowing crazy and haven't had a problem yet. I change the air filter out more often in the summer due to all the bugs getting through but that's about it.

Just got same pre filter sy klone 9001 for the safari. Any loss of power ? Seems a slight power loss at mid to high range

I haven’t noticed any power loss, but I rarely ever exceed 2500 rpms when I drive. I’m not sure that the new V6 has the same airflow requirements that my 4.0L has, so maybe that explains it?

Oh dude, writing all that was even worse. I’m glad I got it all down though. Better than people figuring it out for themselves over and over.

i am running this one. Didn’t notice any loss but when I run my pumpkin top it does feel a little better. I put the normal top back on it I felt it to. It’s not a loss like omg it’s so slow but going back it did feel like something.
