Nu Finish: dirt spots hard to wash off! WTF!

Ok so I wanted a good paint protector/sealer going into winter and I'd used NF years ago with good results. Over the last month I'd treated it twice and it shined up real nice and water beaded like crazy and my ssm baby was lookn shiney. This weekend it was lookn a little cruddy from rain with just light colored brown grime so I ran it up to the carwash for a quick once over and the f**kn stuff would not spray off. I could lightly wipe with my hand the spots would come right off. I thought with a good slick surface treatment it would come clean easier. WTF? Any theories guys?

 

Ok, I'll bite.

1) Are you sure you didn't seal some water spots with the wax?

2) Have you tried removing these spots with a clay bar?

When I detail a vehicle. I wash and dry while the paint is cool and out of the sun. After it's dry, I'll go over the entire vehicle with some detailers spray with a 100% cotton microfiber towel. Then a coat of wax/polish of my choice.

 

Dilute some vinegar down it.I know vinegar is an acid but you can dilute it enough not to hurt the paint. My truck is black and I got water spots on it and I am telling you that vinegar took the spots off better than a claybar. I did rewax it after that.

 

Thanks for the tips guys, but I'm not really talkn bout water spots, just the fact that dirt seems more difficult to spray off after wax than before. Doesn't that seem bassackwards?

 

OP, I've had the same results w/NuFinish...looks great, and protects (fingers crossed), but the water spots are a p.i.t.a. to remove.

 

I wonder if some of these waxes retain just enough moisture to grab onto dirt and then it dries completely and that is what is causing the problem. Since someone else mentioned the same problem I wouldn't use that wax anymore.

 

Wash the truck with Dawn to remove old wax and redo it with a better product.
