Yea you'll hit skids and the 2 faces are the real hard areas, that's the trail that messed up my trans crossmember, if you remember looking under my truck last fall

Gatekeeper is almost a guarantee to winch. Last time I was there only me and one Jeep out of 14 made it without winching. Second ledge looks intimidating but you can hit the right line and walk right up.

You can see most of the trail in the video I made from July.

This^ although I made it up the first ledge, the second ledge I accidentally hit the clutch and screwed myself, so I had to winch up the rest of the way

You guys even got to see the train, that was awesome.
Has anyone ever tried doing it backwards?
Or is this a bad idea:crazy:

It kind of defeats the purpose of most of the trail, since youd be going down all the ledges except the tube towards the end of the trail

I don’t know. It’s an interesting challenge but the visibility out my mirrors is only so-so and the backup camera stopped working when I put the new head unit in.

Well that sucks, that backup camera has saved my ass so many times.
Not to mention way easier to hook a receiver up to a trailer.

I’m better without it. I used to drive box trucks around NYC and can maneuver backwards like a pro. But watching the camera I would never come in on a straight line and would bang into shit on the periphery. No camera = no false sense of security.

Until you see the kid directly in back of your truck bent over and picking up something off the ground!
Yep that almost sucked didn't see him when I got in, on the phone for 2 minutes and there he was.
That could have gone really wrong:anonymous:

Nah, once you go steel bumpers lisc plates should be considered government funded body armor.

Did that actually happen or are you just remembering every Subaru commercial? Was there a Golden Retriever driving the car?

Would have saved my ass if I had used it with that wall :p

Got new bumper ends on there, turns out I cracked the "inner" bumper plastic too. Just took out the broken bit. I'm not too fussed. If it keeps happening I'll just get a tube bumper (I think like yours, you have tube right?) I don't want to go that way though, I'd rather not add that much weight to the truck...I would say for something I don't use, but....clearly....To be fair, with all the stuff I've done to my truck, there's only been one time a steel bumper would have helped.

Nope that actually happened in a Big-y parking lot.
The Mom said sorry I wasn't paying attention to me, but kids will be kids.
I don't blame the kid, but that could have gone bad.
