Never been able to hnt either. Killed 3 bears so far I couldn't begin to tell you how many I have seen and let walk, had come to the tree stand, bedded down within 20 yards. I like deer but the bears are far more entertaining to watch.

Believe it was 6 weeks and we are at at 10 or so. Not a biggie but plan was to go out to the beaches or camp over the summer and grab the plate during. @nguyenpatrickt had his ordered some days after me. Maybe his gets done this week and I grab it.

I probably wouldn't actively hunt any bears. Especially black bears because they're wimps. I had one in my way when I was hiking the AT and he refused to move even after I yelled and screamed at him. I ended up throwing a rock at him and he went running through the woods. (I was young and thought I was invincible).

I've had a few trips out West and I won't fuck with brown bears or grizzlies. Only rock I'll throw at them is a 400 grain lead rock going at over 2000 feet per second, and that would be a last resort.

Been woofed at several times and teeth popped at me in the dark but generally yes the black bears are more scared of us than we are of them. They are fun to hunt with a bow though. Killed the last one with a rifle and won't do that again just not the same. Typically when the rifle comes out it's just to fill the freezer

On the Saw topic.. I have a MS-271. this was purchased a few years ago because my old Echo CS-301 went down (primer bulb with no replacement on hand). Love that little thing. When you were done working, it wasn't. Could have sworn that thing has told me to get off my ass and back to work a time or too.

That said, the 271 is more saw than I need right now. but purchased it with the intent of finally moving out to the country and it being at home. I do find the choke operation kinda annoying over the standard pull/push (the new is an automatic, lift and pull). I'm just used to older saw setups. Not that there is anything wrong with it.. just it operates a little different. Over all, I like it and it's has done a fine job.

I'm not against hunting them. I just don't like the way the meat tastes and I don't have a problem with them. If I lived in the country and one attacked my dog or something, then I'd track that pig down and make a bracelet out of his butt hole. (Sorry that's a joke from when I was on the trail).

My wife doesn't care for the meat either. My girls like it, not that they ever had a choice, all they ever had for red meat growing up was deer and bear. Older bears are greasy and can be less desirable but if cooked certain ways they are good. Cubeing the meat helps alot. I've never killed a older one only 1 1/2 to 2 year olds they were pretty good. I am in the country and we do get them here but typically at night and they tear the trash cans up more of a pain in the ass than anything but the racoons are worse there's one in this pic to the left of the little car.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)

When it comes to tools that I use for landscaping, I've found that you 100 percent pay for what you get.

I've got a 400 dollar stihl profession grade weed eater / brush cutter that I've had for 4 years, no issues, and I use that for brush and small trees (8 inches in diameter at largest) and grass around the house.

I'd rather buy what I need for long term than have to do it again later. Thanks for the advice @chiefcrunchy and @crashdb

Ordered my rock sliders at the end of Feb and it took until the end of Aug until they were ready. I think the company they use for powder coating is starting to catch up, so hopefully yours are done sooner (assuming you are getting them powder coated)

I had the same thought process with my trimmer and backpack blower. I stepped up both to the commercial model the trimmer only ended up being $50 difference to go from standard to pro.
The blower was a little more cause i had used the old br500 model and new the br700 was going to be light years ahead, but it's got a nozzle velocity of 197mph(equivalent)
