    Hey guys,

Took my rebel off only to find it scratched the hell out of the corner of my bed. Down to the metal and it's starting to rust.

Wondering if anyone has any good paint repair shops in SoCal that will charge less than the $1,500 (with discount), I was quoted...

Any recommendations would be helpful! IMG_3437.jpg

Get some touch up paint, sand it a little, paint it, forget about it

This. Genuine Toyota touch up paint is quite useful. If this happened on my truck, and I'm picky about little appearances too, I would just use touch up. It will never be perfect without painting the whole side, but it's such a small niche.

Ok cool. Was honestly just concerned about the rust on it causing a problem. Don't mind touch up paint as it's gonna get more scratches anyways

There's a few spots where I had rub and it rusted. The little touch-up pen from Toyota fixed that. Just wondering, are you getting rid of the rebel?

Don't use the Toyota touch up applicator brush and also get a clear coat bottle too.

Use a toothpick and be patient. A small piece of paper towel helps to apply paint as well.
I sand the base with wet 1800 grit and then 2000 then do the clear and repeat. Run a DA polisher after and it hides surprisingly well.

It won't be perfect, but my touch up spots using these steps works pretty good.

Edit:don't cover the rust with paint! Try sanding it or get some rust remover gel. Once it comes off, paint fast so the rust doesn't come back.

Yes. Small layers to build w a toothpick to apply. Let dry and add more. If you glop it all on at once it won't turn out as well. Make sure to shake the paint bottle for a minute to get mixed properly.

Here is one I did. It is on a lip on the panel on my FJ40, so I couldn't get it perfect as I am a bit impatient and body lines take more time to shape...
