Quite a few guys on TW had issues with PC. It goes into limp mode after a few months and it needs to be taken out. I know a guy personally with the taco that had this issue. Makes much more sense to just shell out for VF.

I also read random reviews on Amazon and a lot of people had this issue on other vehicles.

I flashed the regular base tune last night. It took about 30 miles for it to settle down but I can honestly say it made a heck of a difference. The goofy throttle lag is gone and the truck seems to be more peppy. I'm a happy camper. I'm looking forward to experimenting with the other tunes but will wait until I get some miles on the truck.

If anyone is concerned about this process being too complicated you've got nothing to worry about. The most confusing thing is the "back and forth" with emails to get master keys, etc. but even that is a no-brainer. Once you get the program and tune files on your laptop you just plug it into the truck, click on FLASH, choose the tune you want to use, and hit GO. Less than five minutes and you're done.

    Go for it!

    Thanks Tonered.

Hey, I was wondering if there's a way to get the stock tune that came with the truck. I'm anal about this stuff and sure would like to archive the the stock file.

I'm hoping I don't hear: YOU SHOULD HAVE COPIED IT FROM YOUR ECU BEFORE YOU FLASHED IT!
Because I didn't think of it until now.

    LOL

You don’t need to save. Download. Whatever the stock tune.

The stock tune files are provided should you ever need to use one or wish to modify one.

You're welcome, and you're safe. @Shellshock got you.

There's nothing special about the Stock tune. Our ECUs do all the heavy lifting on adaption and learning.

I think I am missing something here?

-- I have eight Full, editable tunes for my Taco straight from @OVTune . ATs are going to get many more options than that in the Final drop.

-- The initial cost will be paid for in 5yrs on my Taco just from the MPG bump without any consideration of smiles per mile.

was that post deleted? i was gonna ask "what's a reasonable price?" and it's a real question, curious. keep seeing these posts pop up like it's still the 80's or something.

And kinda hard to put a value on smiles per mile.
My willingness to spend quite a bit of moo-la for smiles is legendary!
    Just ask my wife.

    Hahaha!

It is more me than my wife. I'm certified cheap. Still, there is a ton of value in both having an excellent vehicle that operates normally or better, would not be traded because of this (which folks have done), and is arguably better for the life of the driveline.
