My uncle and his dad have been shooting 30-06 and 7mm Rem forever and I think they're in the 150-168gr ball park.

 

7mm is such a cheater round; I mean that in a good way. It's so flat

 

His dad just gave him his old old Remington 700 7mm. Beautiful wood stock. Action is smooth like butter.

Makes mine feel like a POS in comparison... because it is

 

The nut behind the trigger matters more.

It's only when you've got two good shooters that the rifle then begins to matter.

 

Even with the synthetic stock mine is a heavy pig due to the bull barrel. Live and learn.

Just bought the fattest padded sling I could from cabela's last weekend.

The heavier profile barrel should make recoil very manageable.

If you find it hard on your shoulder, work on shoulder placement.
