    Hello!

New to TacomaWorld.com and a new taco owner! I'm looking to purchase a new camper. Upgrading my current 2012 19' Flagstaff to a 2021 Imagine 17xls mke by Grand Designs. Here

The GVWR is 5995 lbs. with a dry weight of 4674 lbs. I will most likely never pull the camper with the fresh water tank full. My current Flagstaff pulls fine but it's a bit lighter with a dry weight of 2945.

I'm wondering if others have pulled the same camper or similar weighted camper and what your experience has been? I'm sure that I'll have to stop for gas more often but I'm okay with that as long as I plan my route. lol

    Thanks!

Where do you plan on taking the camper? What is the tow rating for your particular truck?

I have a GD XLS 22MLE and we pulled it with a 3/4 ton truck(Ram 2500, 10k tow rating). Ended up being a little too much and bought a diesel. It will not be fun if you’re climbing elevation with it.

The Tacoma SR5 4.0L V6 has a tow rating of 6500 lbs. I live in Arizona... so some mountain trips won't be out of the question.

    Welcome!

a trailer of that size will be a bear to pull. Plus, unless the rest of the truck is empty, you’ll have to keep a real close eye on your overall combination weight. I have a M-T but understand the autos will prob need an tranny oil cooler added for this kind of work too.
