It's on the middle brace (in front of radiator). You will have it, all Tacomas do, but if you have a base model, it won't matter. No worky

    Thanks for the info mray.

Tnshooter, I have the cheap console you
know two lights and sunglasses & remot compartment. I want to upgrade it to the temp compass model unless there is one better than that.

The OEM one is much, the solder joint breaks at some of the chips in the board.
Mine did it, I had to take it apart and have it repaired.

Personally, I find the temperature on my phones weather app works just fine.
I wouldn’t bother with retrofitting the OEM one.

It’s your truck, you can do what ever you please.
    I’m just giving my opinion.

I just thought that if I'm gonna have to pay a
bunch of money for a replacement I might as well do the upgrade. Thought it would look good in my truck and fun to do. As far as your opinion
no worries, tell me everything, when I ask for your thoughts don't be afraid to give me the
good, bad and the ugly. lol

The plug for the thermistor blends in because it is taped to a wiring harness. It's hard to spot because you have to remove the electrical tape (or whatever they're using) to find it.

Okay so I've done some checking, my taco has the plug and wiring in the cab ceiling for
the tamp / compass. also I think I found the wiring and plug for the thermister, its laying on top of the ac condenser in the same harness as the hornes see attched photo. So from here on out will everything be pretty much plug and play after i purchase a console and thermister?

I purchased a 2009 base V6 and it already had the temp sensor plugged into the grille. I bought the temp / compass console and it works perfectly. Should be the same for you. Just make sure since your truck is a 06, that you get a console from a 05-08. The 09+ are a bit different wiring wise I’ve heard.

Just to expand, that should work for all 05-08 Tacomas. Mine is a 2008, and I had to buy the overhead console (Ebay) and the thermistor (Dealer). The wiring was already there. Now I don't know if the "base" Tacomas have the wiring, but my X-Runner definitely had it.

The thermistor (temp sensor) is <$20 from the dealer.
