I was hoping you would prove me wrong lol. Driving skill can do 95% of trail driving. The other 5% is skinny pedal and tires.

And if you haven't been carrying emergency pants, you need to. Along with a head lamp with a red light option. Two standard junk-in-the-truck items.

I took DevilPenguin up the BroncoBuster last weekend at KansasRocks.......thay was definitely a prepared rig needed obstacle. Talked the rest of the crew outta it. Driving skill is good but somethings are better enjoyed by taking the turnout.......

Indeed. I know I want to get underbody skids now. I didn't suffer much underbody damage save for a bit of the hitch/shackle.

Hell's Revenge threw a lot at me. Very steep climbs. Think we are going to check out Lockhart Basin tomorrow.

I'll be ok with 33s, lol. My truck handled great.

I saw a lot of nice 4runners and tacos on 35s when we left Top of the World staging. Group of 8 going up.

I figure the super technical stuff, I’ll do in a SxS. I’d rather not destroy my truck

My IRL driving techniques are far more conservative than the 95/5 rule lol.

One of the only things I want a solution for on my truck is a high clearance hitch rated for towing, without an aftermarket bumper. Skids start to pile on the weight.

HC rear bumper is one of my goals, gotta "influence" the current one off.

At the least, a diff diaper would relieve some stress worrying about the bottom.

Can't have your cake and eat it too. Get an RCI steel bumper. Damn near the same weight as the factory, 4 inch "lift" on your hitch placement. Not officially rated for factory tow specs, but absolutely no one has broken a bumper towing within factory specs. Promo code "tw" for 5% off, bigger discounts available depending on the season

RCI makes a solid steel diff diaper. I've smoked mine pretty hard and it still holds perfect shape and form. Protects the drain plug really well too

Honestly, I don't worry about my diff. I've banged the pumpkin on my Taco a few times without much worry because there is no back plate to bend like on my Jeeps. If I need to, I'll weld a new deeper ring around the drain bolt, that's the piece that has taken the only real damage.
Let me know when they make a 2.5 gen bumper like that. It's a hard knock life for us middle-child generation trucks when we look for aftermarket stuff.

You would think that there would be more aftermarket support for the best and most beautifulest generation of Tacoma.
If they would send me one, I could test it out for them for a while to make sure that the fit is good enough.

    Like.... You're not wrong.... :anonymous:

Well if you, and me, and @Tigerian all want bumpers..... Maybe we could get a discount.

Granted, I need a front, not a rear, but still...

You can have 2 rears. It’s fine. Get a high clearance

They don't make a high clearance....

But when I do eventually get one with the swing out carrier, I've got a buddy with a 2010 sport trail limo that'll probably end up with my rear

Super lame. If you had more influencer cred, you could convince them to make one for you
