Thanks. I did check those along with a few other components and the skid plate bolts. No obvious damage and no loose bolts. Everything looked good.

Has anyone found a solution to this? My 2018 clanks from the front driver’s side about 60% of the time going over speed bumps or dips. It drives me crazy. Ive taken it to the dealer more than once, including a ride along where I was able to replicate it multiple times. He had no idea.

My 19 OR was doing that too. After I upgraded to a PRO Foxes, clunking stopped.

I had the front suspension replaced under warranty and the clanking stopped. The clanking came back eventually. I just deal with it and consider it just another "Toyota quirk". Maybe one day if I upgrade the suspension, it will fix the issue.

Let us know if it turns out only to be a temporary fix. How many miles since the upgrade?

its the coil spring front end suspension compressing and then decompressing

Well, if you're going over dips and speed bumps then it's safe to assume it's compressing and decompression like pretty much most coil springs should, especially with all that engine weight over it. The thing is, it sounds like two pieces of heavy steel slapping against each other - CLANK-CLANK!. I just ignore it now. Another Tacoma quirk, kind of like the noisy fuel pump (chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp...)

The dealership explained it was due to wear. They explained there was an insulator that would wear out. I guess they wear out every 20 to 30 k miles. I have nearly 65k miles now.

Other than the weak bumpers, chirping fuel pump, condensation that forms inside the windshield, easily scratched plastic, noisy suspension, and a couple of other things...this Tacoma has been fine. I'm happy with it.

Everything from past experience with all these toyota techs tells me the same...if they don't see it in their data base....good luck.

The cab mount would definitely be a good place to check. We had a mysterious clunking on a work truck. Took 4 weeks to narrow it down because the mount was not easily viewed while driving slow to troubleshoot. First thought were CV, strut/shock-assembly/bushings, tie-rod... but cab mounts!

Had them on for almost 10k miles, no clunks so far.

I would check the body mount. You have to pull back the fender liner to get to it. Good luck.

    Work in progress...
Make sure the metal clamp that holds the parking brake cable by the passenger rear wheel is secured. I zip tied mine on when I put on the rear add a leaf. It broke off when I was going up the fire roads around Flagstaff. I was looking for that clanking sound for a few months.

I know this is an old post but I found out what was causing the clunk on mine, the front shocks!
The base of the coil was hitting the sway bar everytime I hit a bump or under-dip. 2 things will remedy this, get a lift or front end leveling kit, or sway bar relocation kit.
The gas in the shock tubes were gone and my truck was only floating on the shock coils.
I got a leveling lift and no more clank clunk.
    Hope this helps.
