The dirt is only bad if you don't like the look, but offers a bit of protection too. Some guys even claim to apply FF and then drive down a dirt road immediately. The beauty of FF is it can spray off with high pressure.

Well cosmoline can be rubbed off easily to....with mineral sprits or acetone. Personally i disliked FF for reasons of this...just traveling at highway speeds in a good downpour will wash much of the FF film away...especially in one of those automatic car wash's. Stuff such as cosmoline will be harder to remove when under these conditions. Even bmw and mercedes all coat their cars with cosmoline before they leave their plants.

yes, take all the precaution you can afford rather than regret it in the end for not doing it. Once the rust started you'll be in for a chase.

Nope, I power wash in the spring heavy. There is still plenty of fluid film on there after. You only need a thin film. But we as humans always load it up so we can see it. Which I do as well. But even if some washes off I still have much protection. Under my truck looks new.

I disagree. I sprayed my frame with FF last Nov. It has been through the carwash (with undercarriage spray) countless times and there's still a coating on there. You can't see it but you can tell as soon as water hits it. It beads up just like a wax job.

2020 TRD Pro in May....I did the RP-342 Black cosmoline first thing. In NE Ohio they use nasty chemicals on our roads and this thin built Taco would be shredded in no time.
I used the black instead of clear to see where the application was going, This stuff does NOT wash off, you need thinner or similar to remove it.
As for attracting dirt/dust...not so much it does have a waxy feel to it though.

LUCKILY.......wifey insisted on a "winter" car so we leased a el cheapo Honda Civic LX....so our Taco is spared the sentence of a slow salt death.

    I’ve used Woolwax for my 1 gen and wife’s 12 4Runner.

I’ve read around on TW that some are concerned with warranty issues if applied.

I know you can clean off most of want has been listed here, but does anyone know if Toyota will void your warranty (for corrosion) if a dealer notes it just from another service for the vehicle?

I ask this as I have 2020 TRD Sport and don’t want to give them a reason to do so.

If you keep it coated you don’t really need to worry about any frame warranty. People just say that like it’s some scary thing “void corrosion warranty” but if you actually take care of and coat your frame yourself you’ll be okay.

I bought some cans of WoolWax and will be spraying mine this weekend. Last weekend, I took a wire brush and cleaned up surface rust (on a 2020) and then sprayed a black rust inhibitor. While it’s warm this weekend, I’m hitting it all up with WW.

I wasn’t sure, my 99 Taco was part of that but back program, so, I want to make sure I don’t get a bad case of the “rusty tacos”

I have used Fluid Film since new on my 2015, but this year did the Wool Wax. Much cleaner application, doesn’t smell. I treat the underside like I treat the exterior.

You can claim what you want, but i use to rust proof my tundra with fluid film every fall, and it'd be 90% gone by spring. Here in connecticut they salt and spray the roads at the fist sign of freezing rain, or a snowflake. I even looked one day during the winter after driving in a heavy rain storm the day before...much of the fluid film had already been washed away. You could places where fresh surface rust was forming around the leafs and frame welds. Imo fluid film works well as long as its not constantly subjected to water spray, or going through deep puddles.

Has anyone heard of Corrosion Free? Apparently it's a Canadian product that our Canadian brothers are loving. It's even recommended by the Canadian military. I'm kinda leaning this way.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/corrosion-free-rust-proofing.681248/

BUT BUT BUT, I like the concept of cosmoline. The only issue with cosmoline is I don't think it has the "creeping" ability of Fluid Film, Wollwax, or Corrosion Free.

Maybe cosmoline followed up with Fluid Film type product?

Or maybe I'm thinking WAY TOO MUCH about this! :)
