yeah. it was a little weird, the 1499 went on sale on time, the 1729 dollar one came way later.

I never even saw it go on sale and the site stayed loading for me for awhile before it started crashing, I guess they barely had any.

It was much of the same there. I was refreshing constantly and only ever saw the $1729 model with add to cart, but I didn't want to spend that much and rip off the cooler and put a waterblock on it.

Are you guys still set on the 3090 with the lackluster benchmarks they're putting up?

If you are a gamer it is going to be disappointing, that amount of vram at that price for 3D design is going to be incredible for doing rendering and designing. This isn’t so much a gaming card, just get a 3080 if that is your goal.

Meh, I'm going to use it for content creation and gaming so the price is fine by me. I'd actually worry about getting a 10GB 3080. Linus and some others are already showing some new DLSS 2.1 games they had access to using 10-11 GB of video memory. I think 16 GB will soon be the new minimum if you expect to run max settings in high end games.

If it’s any consolation, I doubt I could have got it based on how shitty the site was loading at the time.

I agree, just as 8GB was the old standard for RAM 8GB VRAM will soon be the old standard, I think we’ll see 12 GB cards replace the mid range 8GB and high end be 16-20GB.

Depends on your definition, looks like quadro’s and Titans are 800+ on the used market.

I put my 1500 MHz OC back on the RX580 tonight and played flight simulator for about an hour, without the headphones it sounded like a jet engine but noise was barely noticeable with the headphones on, according to afterburner GPU temp was steady around 57 C so I’m happy with it, the case fans seem to be moving plenty of air.
Tomorrow I’ll check the Radeon software and see if it tracked an increase of average FPS with the higher clock speed, I think before I fly next time I’m going to turn down the settings just a bit, several times my flight got a little bit choppy and I didn’t care for it.

He's an arrogant dick but he does have his moments. No, seriously, about once a year he sticks his foot so far in his mouth he can wiggle his toes to scratch his ass. I watch his videos but he's probably my least trusted YouTuber for advice. Lots of companies even avoid him completely now. Like he tore MSi a new one last year over a X570 board BIOS update when the board that he was using clearly said "Prototype, do not update BIOS," on the box. He didn't apologize either until people started ripping him one on twitter. nVidia has even pulled a couple of launches from him in the past for going to far.

So for 30 series cards it looks like Asus used the best power layout, followed by MSI, followed by EVGA, followed by everyone else who was below spec.

For getting familiar with more basic building info he's had an easy to understand style I like - have a good playlist of basic steps from him, Linus Tech Tips, BPS Customs, and a couple other dudes. This is how I learned to build vehicles and fabricate. Obviously when getting more experience I'll get probably be as critical about youtubers as a I am on topics I'm experienced with and might watch less of Jay. A couple other dudes I like are Carey Holzman whom I know comes off as a big know it all, but like his diagnosis videos. I also like Anthony on Linus Tech Tips.
