What I stated is directly from Jr to Gibbs, although I don't doubt at least parts of your story are true. And no, I don't believe he offered part of the Redskins. Jr said if that way the case he would have been in. There was another business he did offer though.

As for brand loyalty, yes, but JGR was also still Chevrolet in 2007 when all this happened.

As for KB, he needed a change in scenery. I don't think he's that sad about it either. Plus Gibbs is good at handling those personalities.

Gibbs was the best thing to happen to Kyle.

You are correct. It was Jonny Rockets they offered him a stake in.

I get that JGR was still running Chevrolet but they announced that they would move to Toyota in September of 2007.

I agree that KB is way better off at JGR than HMS.

Correct, but the KB/Dale Jr move happened in June/July, prior to that announcement.

This thread is great when y'all aren't acting like butthurt snowflakes

Here are some shots from Bristol. It was my first time going. I can't recommend it enough. From the pre-race fireworks and multiple flyovers, to the atmosphere, the noise, the weather, and the competition, it was a great experience! It's true, there's not a bad seat in the house. From about row 20 to the bottom you feel the cars blast by you and the vibration shakes your DNA. GO TO BRISTOL. Seeing Briscoe win in person was super as he's a personal favorite. My kiddo called both race winners for the weekend. I really liked the front-stretch celebrations. They reminded me of the various short tracks I like to attend when the crowd gathers at the fence to cheer for the winner. We got up and close to snap great shots of the winners.

We're headed to Talladega next weekend and the Roval on the following weekend. Putting some miles on the taco and getting good use out of my ARB awning and drop-down tent room.

What I'm saying is that there was plenty of time to sway them to stick with Chevrolet and a big name like that would have certainly helped.

I read that as well. I'm a chase fan, the extra time they've been in the wind tunnel, sure as hell ain't helping.

I'd have probably been very happy for him had it not been my driver he beat to accomplish it.

That was a fun finish to a rather dull race. I was happy with just about any of those guys, outside of Denny, winning. Vegas turned into a wildcard race and really shuffled the playoff picture. I LIKE IT. Now we have the true wildcard: Talladega. We're headed over to set up camp Saturday morning. The weather looks really nice. Also received confirmation from Charlotte that we have tickets on the start-finish line. 3 Cup races within 4 weeks for me and the kid. We're loving it!
