+1 for understanding the concept of my comment and my choice of words used. I meant it to sound one way but not legitimized by the actual wording.

The problem with this is the Insurance Co. will do it's damned best to screw you out of what you have coming. This includes using cheap after market parts and trying to get you to settle for less. You should feel no obligation to be more honest to the Insurance Co. than they are with you.

Wow... I don't want this to turn into a thread hijack but as Luke Skywalker said, "...every word of what you just said is wrong."

What I will say is that there is a contract that dictates what you paid for, what you are entitled to, and how you can expect the contract to be fulfilled.

If the company deviates from that contract, there are countless lawyers eager to step in and take your case. There are state Insurance Departments that regulate the companies and hear complaints from consumers and levy fines for bad conduct. Insurance companies do not want to be found to have acted in "bad faith" - it's a LOT more expensive than your claim is.

Now if you lie or materially misrepresent your claim and get caught, you risk having your claim not paid, your policy rescinded, and possible prosecution.

Is that worth the risk to make a couple of extra bucks because you think "the man owes me"?

+1 on this. Worked a year in claims after college and it was the worst job I have ever had. It taught me that money truly brings out the worst in people and that insurance fraud only drives up the premiums for everyone else. Claims/estimates can and do get audited all the time and it's in the insurance company's best interest to do what it states in your contract, or face big fines. If you are not happy with the aftermarket parts they put on your car, then you probably should have read the contract before you signed it. Do you think an adjuster working 60 hours a week, making shit pay, gives a damn about cheating you out of a couple hundred bucks? Nope. They get nothing out of that. In fact, they want you to be happy so you can leave them alone, so they can move on to a mountain of other claims. Be kind to your adjusters, motherfuckers.

Well the body shop called and gave me an update, they said from a visual estimate it's only $11,400 in damage. I do not know how many drugs this body shop is on but now it's a waiting game for them to tear it apart

Have seen quite a lot of Gen3s getting hit in the rear. I believe due to those stupid tail lights where turn signal blinks an additional light instead of blinking the entire light on that side. I've had people tell me its hard to see in rainy weather, and I have been hit in the rear as well.

That seems absurdly low. The total cost for the accident I posted earlier in this thread - only damage to drivers/front left - was ~$7,100.

And that was only for the replacement and paint of the hood, entire grille/bumper, drivers/left headlight, and drivers/left fender.

Who picked that body shop? I would find another for an estimate.

It's a body shop who's treated me very well in the past, my last truck that had maybe ⅒ of the damage was quoted much higher. I may stop in tomorrow, or wait till they actually get the truck apart, since I know 11,000 won't replace he entire body and fix the frame

Couple of things. I can only speak of my experience with accidents and my insurance company. When I had someone rear end me in my 2010 Tacoma I went to where I wanted to have it fixed because it's not up to the other person insurance to dictate where I have it fixed and I went to the dealership body shop also because they don't do bondo crap and my insurance company pays for replacement oem parts and I no there are alot of insurance company's that dont do that and my opinion is if you dont want aftermarket parts then change insurance company's. There are alot of people that look for the cheapest policy they can find and when something happens they complain about how they fix it. You know when you look at insurance policy it's all spelled out in black and white so read what your getting. Your insurance company can suggest what body shop to go to but it's ultimately up to you where you go and it will still be payed for by them anyway.

I understand that, but I don't think with any amount of aftermarket parts you can get you can fix a truck for $11,000 after a fully loaded smile rear ended it pushing it into another car bending the frame and ruining
    every part of the truck

Here's the Estimate, no front bumper replacement (only cover) , only replacing 2 sensors in the rear, no bed replacement, no fenders, no hood. Already placed my peragin bed cover $200 short of the price, and didn't list any hours in paint. Also told me he didn't see any major frame damage that would be an issue when I've been told several times the frame is buckled

OP - I'm glad your okay. A semi almost killed my father 2 years ago. I always let them by because a semi behind you isn't a place you want to be. That truck saved your life & don't worry you'll have another sweet taco soon! Good Luck!

Glad you are OK. Now you can get that trucking company to upgrade you to an actual Pro.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the insurance company does if they fix it or total it. I was surprised couple years ago my kid was on his way to trade his car in and got in an accident. It was cheaper to fix and the insurance totaled it. He actually made out on the deal. They gave him retail replacement cost. Never thought that would happen.
