What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Question, if I’m going to be running a progressive coilover, will running a digressive reae Shock fuck with things?

 

haha yeah. but on a serious note I really do hope he is able to keep the truck and build it out in a way that continues to work for him. even looking at pictures of the wreck... I still thought it was a nice build.

 

Nope, if it rides how you like it there's nothing wrong with that. Two different suspension types anyway, never know what you'll like better until you try it

 

Yeah, that truck is clean... if insurance pays out properly it could work out good.

 

that's what I was thinking. Insurance pay out would probably cover a flat bed build at a minimum.

 

Yeah I didn't want to play it down but if that happened to me I would be happy... But.....my bed is shitty, my truck is rusty and i would love an excuse to get rid of it... Plus I would take that little wrinkle in the frame over mine which is rust reformed on a weekly basis, plated and I had to buy that milwaukee 1400lb impact to break bolts cause im sick of grinding them off. So, im biased i guess. lol

 

me and @Rustacoma did a compression check on his #4 after a misfire and it was like 50psi... Pulled head and found the culprit... water up intake??

 

lololol. yep. a hole through a valve will do that! that's wild. did you guys find any shrapnel in there?

 

na, that truck has been running on that burned valve for prob 2 years... lol.. he just bought it... we are doing a rusty restore on it... basically everything is new now just like what i had to do to mine...

 

Lol, story of my life with the 99... literally hope it breaks in half every time I drive it somewhere. The cracks are starting to get pretty bad, maybe it’ll be dead in the driveway next time I go home.

I hope it does! I’m thinking an Aussie style flatbed/canopy/wedge camper build. Will definitely be raptor coating the cab if I keep it.

I’m really hoping the frame is straight, or fixable at a decent price. Also hoping insurance is relatively decent to me if it is totaled. I can’t imagine getting rid of this thing. It’s been about the only constant in my life since I’ve owned it and has been my baby for 9 years. Hell, I even called it home for 6 months.

youre good man.. def don't get rid of it.. even if you just find a new bed and put it on and fix the body damage on truck... that thing is still nicer than 80% of first gens out there..
