I've always wondered why the need to have dropped two nukes, esp on a country as small as Japan. Everything I've read makes it sound like it was just decided that two was the best idea, lol. Kind of fucked up really. I think detonating one atomic warhead sends a pretty clear message...two is just for that added go big or go home I guess

It was such a tremendous show of power and destruction that it has pretty much halted ever using them again. That's good I suppose

Unfortunately, the Japanese of that era didn't get the picture with the first one and it took the 2nd to make the point. Give the fuck up. The people were so brainwashed by the government that they were almost ready to die by the millions before letting Japan fall.

Makes sense, that's pretty wild to think that the first didn't have that effect. But I guess by comparison the bomb used then was small potatoes to what was developed later, which to Zane's point is a good thing that it's prevented the use of them going forward. Think I read somewhere the Hiroshima bomb was equivalent to 15k tons of TNT, vs more modern nukes that are as much as 150k tons. Crazy

guys .. a coworkers dad (who used to be a good customer of mine when I was a small engine mechanic) just bought this taco for 1k because of the side work he did. Runs and drives, starter just sticks sometimes. 4x4 3rz with the auto and 230k. It has 4.56 gears

I'm trying to convince him to sell it to me (he wanted to flip it when he bought it but now likes the truck and is hesitant)

Then I can build up my truck with the parts I want and part out the rest

But he said he wants to drive around in it for awhile :pout:

Thanks I'll check that out, WWI and WWII history has always interested me. There's a really cool World War One museum in Kansas City that I've been to a few times when visiting family over there. I remember being a kid the first time we went with my grandfather, and he would get really upset at the fact that there was a Japanese flag flying at the memorial (along with several other countries). But the Japanese one set him off, just because he grew up during the WWII era. He straight up said he would never get over it.

For his faults he was a good guy just old and set in his ways. Although I have a vivid memory of him tossing a kitten I found in his yard like it was a Hail Mary football play over his fence one time when I was like 6 years old, I was fucking mortified lol

If you ever get the chance go to the Museum in Los Alamos where they built the bombs. VERY Interesting. Here is an exact replica of the bombs. _storage_emulated_0_DCIM_Camera_20180524_113332.jpg
