Just a question. Is a propane cooking stove included in the definition of a “stove fire”?
Regional Order No. 20-16 USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region Emergency Fire Restrictions
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), and to provide for public safety and protect natural resources, the following acts are prohibited on National Forest System lands within the Pacific Southwest Region. This Order is effective from September 25, 2020, through September 30, 2020.
    1. Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(a).
    2. Smoking. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(c).

When in doubt, call the ranger station.

So jealous. This is the first camping trip I'm taking my kid on (we usually go around 20 times in the summer during normal times) and due to pandemic and California fires, we wont be having any smores, sitting around the campfire, or camp cooking this year. All my favorite parts of taking kids camping. FML. To say im jealous is an understatement. You better make that thing rage.

According to the rangers I spoke with, Yes. Even the tiny backpacking stoves. Anything that is ignited basically.

I did. thats how I got the info that I wouldnt be able to cook on propane stoves. Hence the reason for the electric stove search. Always call the rangers before heading out.

That blows. Even in fire bans we were able to use gas stoves to cook. I second MREs. They've gotten a lot better since I was in and get your meal pretty hot. Then again, after a few deployments you just tend to eat them cold :D

Hard boil the eggs and cook the bacon before you go.

Hot dogs, eggs and bacon can be eaten cold.

There was a video where a guy did a bunch of tests to see what the bed outlet would run. The every day hair dryer failed.

Wasn’t sure. In a lot of places a propane cook stove is okay even under fire bans.
Sorry-read your post again and see that you made that clear.

Same for here as well. We have firebans every year and propane is typically allowed. This is the first year they have banned propane as well. All National Forests in California due to the fires this year. It's been pretty crazy.

For sure! I’m here in Oregon and the forest I visit are all closed. We are supposed to be a rainforest area too. Hope you guys get rain soon.

If it helps, I tried running a shop vac off the rear outlet once. It would trip and shut off, tried it multiple times. No damage done. So I don't think you risk much by trying one of these burners at low power in 400w mode.
