2020 Toyota Tacoma SR V6 4x4 in MGM
I purchased my 2020 SR DCSB V6 4x4 in MGM on 9/1/20, and have since put on about 1,500 miles on him. Yes, it’s a him. I named him Russell, after the best QB in the NFL, Russell Wilson. I am a huge Seahawks fan! Go Hawks!

    Anyway...

Many people ask me why I didn’t go for the higher trim levels, and it’s simply because they were out of my budget, and I wanted to customize the truck to MY liking.

So far, I’ve added just cosmetic mods (tailgate emblems, blacked out badges, AVS window visors, TRD Pro style grille, tri-fold bed cover, and a few other things. As for the interior, I just added the Cup Holder Hero inserts throughout the interior... oh, and some patches!)

In terms of wheels/tires, I’ve decided to go with American Racing AR201s in matte bronze - 16”, 0 offset (they’re currently on backorder until mid-October). I will be sticking with my stock tires for another six months, but then upgrading to Falken Wildpeak’s in either 255/70/16 or 265/70/16 (I’m still undecided between them). I hope to get them by March 2021.

As far as suspension, I am waiting until funds are available. But my plan is to go with the Eibach Pro Lift, with Icon 1.5” AAL. I’m unsure if I will be changing out the UCA’s during that time. I hope to get a 2” lift with this set up.

    Onto my review:

The Tacoma is my daily driver. I drive it 5-6 days a week to and from work and it is a blast to drive! I came from a 2018 Nissan Altima SR, and I will never go back to a sedan.

It’s certainly not as “zippy” as the Altima, but I didn’t buy a truck to go vroom, vroom. The V6 does make some nice noises though.

I haven’t had the chance to take it off-road, but I hope to soon. I have an upcoming trip to the Smokie’s in two weeks, so I hope to find some trails to test the waters.

My likes about the Tacoma? Everything. The styling is sleek, but aggressive. Sexy, but refined. The interior is very comfortable. I really enjoy the cloth seats and the contouring of them. They aren’t uncomfortable for long trips. The exterior color is just beautiful. The MGM looks great in pretty much every type of lightning. The interior is blacked out, which is nice because we all know that chrome sucks! I was lucky because mine came with the upgraded LED interior lighting.

    My dislikes?
I wish the SR had standard fog lights. I know that it’s an easy fix and I can install those easily, but it’s a pet peeve. But I’ll be upgrading to Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport fog lights in amber. I hope soon.

If I had the chance, would I buy the Tacoma all over again? Absolutely. This truck is a dream. It’s got everything I look for in a vehicle.

I hope to keep the Tacoma until the wheels fall off.

I’m glad I joined the Toyota family.

Sounds like you did your research & have a game plan. Congratulations! Keep it up & enjoy the truck... As for the Seahawks...

I have the 2018 SR for a lot of the same reasons except I have only put 5000 miles on mine. I working on customizing it slowly to get exactly what I want with new wheels being the last item.

    GO COWBOYS!!

Go Hawks! Got Wilson as my fantasy QB. I know absolutely nothing about fantasy football, so when everybody else was picking out running backs I'm like bitch imma sneak Wilson in here first round.

I bought a 17 and it’s stock.... other than 265-75-16’s and air bags in the rear. I find that the off-road rides soft and would like to stiffen in up in the front... all in due time

Got the SR because i wanted to customize it for my liking also. I also planned on reserving that extra upper trim money for a supercharger kit

Enjoy the truck! I got an SR5. I wanted a bit more than the SR came with but I'm definitely interested in a moderate lift also. Maybe next summer. I need to wear those tires out some first.

Ok, Russell is great I’ll give you that. Easily top 5 but the best in the league however OP? nah. I would give that spot to Mahomes or Rodgers this year.
As far as the truck, congrats. It’s always fun building it to your own personality. I’ve been having a blast with mine. Anyway, take care and share some pics from time to time on the build progress. Take care.
