I'm assuming this has been answered multiple times but from my searching I haven't seen a conclusive answer. If we own ovtune in .pf5 and bought the upgrade to vftuner do you get the 2.0 files in .vft format or do you need to buy the tune pack to get the 2.0 files in .vft format?

Appointment next week to get my transmission checked by the dealer. Now it takes off in 2nd gear sometimes if I stop abruptly prior. It then goes to first gear and back to second. Happens more in S-mode it seems. What a mess. Should I flash back to stock or does it really matter?

Normally I'd say not to bother, but since your issue is related to transmission shifting, I would flash back to stock. No sense in giving them even the slightest reason to refuse a warranty claim. Not that they could detect the tune anyway, but...

I had an issue with my transmission doing the same thing before tuning it constantly tried to take off in second and alot of times in third.

Anybody else on here with the ol' slushbox been experimenting with throttle limits? Do you seem to get better results / snappier response out of changing the 2D throttle limit "normal" maps, the 3D throttle request to airload table, or by changing both of the tables together?

Transmission starting in higher gears at random can be thanked to Toyota's atrocious style of how the maps are setup.

There will be an upcoming patch release that completely rewrites the logic, like what we released in 1.05.

This can happen on the tundra too. If you're in 2nd and stop very quickly, quicker than the truck can call / calculate a downshift, then start rolling again, it will negate that initial downshift to first request.

Our transmission logic patch wipes all of Toyota's junk in favor of a torque based shifting logic.

Because the standard tables of shifting by what your gas pedal does just works like crap. It's too narrow of a method to calculate when to shift.

Another thing too is that there are instances in stock shift logic that can initiate an up shift from first to 2nd, or 2nd to 3rd at like 800 rpm, and it technically shifts, but it does *as soon as* the truck begins moving.

Same like it shifting into 4 dropping the rpm to like 600 and bouncing back.

I don't think 2d throttle tables make any difference without adjusting airload limits tables, etc.
I've been looking into dead pedal issues in 5th under 85 to 90% engine load and cannot get the throttle to match the accelerator.
Also driving in stop and go traffic a little annoying..

Tune the airload maps and you can do full throttle in 6th at 1200 rpm (assuming gearlock), etc.

    Airload tables.

How will this upcoming patch release be distributed?
New tune packs? Or have to be applied via Vftuner?

Is the logic rewrite patch going to be part of the final 2.0 release?

This is wonderful to hear. Wondering if i should even bother with my Toyota appointment at this point if an occasional start in 2nd isn't caused by a mechanical flaw or failure. It seemed like bad news to have a transmission do that at all. Thanks

I wouldn’t bother. They’ll either say they can’t replicate the issue or that it’s normal. Pretty much a waste of time.

I have been playing around with it quite a bit. On a "rev3" at the moment, but it's more like 10 revisions. Haven't been good about making one change and renaming the tune. I used 04B04 reg stock for a starting point. I've done pretty much everything people have been talking about on here... airload control, throttle request to airload, throttle limits, upshift and downshift schedules in d and ect... I'm happier each time I tweak it. Best it's ever run. I'm all stock except cold air intake and cat back exhaust.

Honestly, If I had any clue what the airload tables did or what they are even referencing I'd start playing with them but the tables are literally a foreign language to me. Some hints on what all the numbers mean and how manipulating the numbers affects performance would be invaluable

    Throttle request to Airload table?
I'd like to know how to get full throttle in specific region of the table rather than increasing values by some %.
    Care to explain?
    Thanks

I spent 3 hours driving around today tuning throttle sensitivity, 6->5->4 downshifting and TC. It's been great and having a lot of fun making it "my own".
