heres a question. Im really thinking hard about the relocate from Alpine designs. Ive had to cut and trim my cmc over and over, and its starting to annoy me. How much do you think is a good price for cutting off the original ones, and then burning the new ones on?

 

Someone just asked me what I would charge to do it and I told them $700. It’s a shit load of work. If you’re paying a shop, I say anything under a grand is fair. Fab shops are roughly $100 an hour and it’s every bit of 8+ hours of work to do.

Second gens are definitely a little easier. Our cab mounts are half the size of a third gen.

 

I have it, not installed yet. Wasn't expecting 8 hours. I was thinking 2-3 per side.

 

Dang! I'd do this in a heartbeat for a grand! Can't understand why it's so much work. It uses the same body side location, right? I mean it's just removing the old frame bracket and welding in the new one further back, right?

 

I got quoted at about 8 hours from a shop. They said it was a shit load of work.

(They have done them)

And on third gens you have to be really careful of the wire loom that runs near the drivers side.

I'd rather just hack and beat more and more before paying a g for it honestly

 

It’s tight quarters up in there. It wouldn’t be as bad to just hack it off but grinding it smooth is the kicker. Same with a rear shock relocate. It takes for fucking ever to make it look like not a hack job.
