I swapped in an FJ Cruiser case and now my 4lo and green 4wd (edit: not diff lock, just 4wd lights) lights on the dash are flashing and the front ADD isn’t engaging. I put the sensors from the Tacoma case on the FJ case and plugged them in. Is there something else I’m supposed to do to make the 4wd computer happy?

edit: the lights flash in 2wd as well, happens as soon as I turn the key

Are you shifting the t-case into 4WD before turning the stock 4WD knob? The t-case has to be in 4WD first.

I tried both. Are the lights supposed to be flashing in 2wd though? The dash lights up as soon as I turn the key.

No they shouldn't be flashing. Have you made sure that your front differential actuator is working? If it is stuck or not working you won't get 4x4 and your dash lights will flash. I had that problem with my 4x4 so I took it out, pulled it apart, soldered the electrical contacts and cleaned it. Now no light flashing and works great..

sounds like the OP did not wire up a switch for the front ADD

Just swapping the transfer case and running the wires to it is only part of what you need to do. You can shift into four-wheel-drive so that the front driveshaft is spinning but if you do not have a switch to activate the front diff actuator you will not be able to engage four-wheel-drive.

what would happen if you plugged the t case actuator back in and let it hang there then try to put it in 4wd with our touching the fj case shifters just just the knob on the dash. if that works its not the actuator in the front.

I'm just guessing hear so take it with a grain of salt please.

I screwed up guys...didn’t realize I had to do the wiring mods if I’m keeping the ADD. That’s on my list for tomorrow. I’m guessing a winch rocker switch would work? I think it’s DPDT momentary? I’m pretty sure I have an extra lying around somewhere for the rear winch I planned to install.

I agree with this. Half the work is done with the swap, other half is completing the wiring

The wiring diagram for that has been posted numerous times in the FJ case swap thread. Maybe if you’re lucky The wiring diagram for that has been posted numerous times in the FJ case swap thread. Maybe if you’re lucky @6 gearT444E will post it here for you.

He wired mine, in his driveway, in the dark, with a flashlight, in 10° weather.

I found this over in the FJ-TC swap thread.
    Maybe it will help?

that’s only half the wiring for position indicators. The other half is for the differential disconnect wiring.

yeah I broke my ADD tube before I got a chance to mess with it, so never got around to trying it. Seems like it would work pretty simple and the ADD would automatically shift into engaged when the transfer case is in 4hi or 4lo. An option to retain 2lo would just be to install a toggle switch in line with the newly added relay coil.

Where are you getting the vjd2u66b rocker switch for the ADD in your other post? I plan to use 2wd low a lot for towing and backing up. I’m only finding the vjd2u66b switch on eBay and it doesn’t come with a cover/actuator.

I buy this in 2012 but this is where I got it from
    https://www.avnet.com/

    VJD2U66B-00000-000 Carling Technologies, Inc.
    V-SERIES ROCKER SWITCH
    Lead Free: Yes
    RoHS: Yes
    $10.98 $10.98

You may pick whatever switch you want. I spec'd this one out because it had a maintained On-off-On with independent dual LEDs you can tie to whatever circuit you like. There are plenty of options and more than one way to skin a cat, this is what happened to tickle my fancy for this design. See the carling catalog here and pick out whatever one you'd like, just needs to be DPDT.

    https://www.carlingtech.com/sites/default/files/documents/V-Series-II-III_datasheet.pdf

And yes, no cover, I picked my own cover out later.
