1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

@Empty_Lord, so my duaghter's 2013 is a prerunner, automatic. To bolt up a tcase, do I need to do a trans swap or is it as simple as changing/removing the tail housing on it?

 

no thats my fathers tacoma.

well... i mean you could swap the tail housing. but to do so you have to comepletely tear down the trans to swap output shafts.

 

hmmm the ol f-350 looking good.. (dont mind me.. just going through photos now.)

 

OK, that was the only thing I wasn't sure about. So easier to source a new trans for it then. Going FJ case like in the 4runner, so maybe just get FJ trans and tcase? Or do I need the Taco trans from a 4x4?

the fj is the same a750f. so is a tundra or sequoia trans really.. bellhousing on those would be different though.

DO get the torque converter with the trans

 

any toyota auto really. 2wd has longer output shafts.

 

OK. She actually wants a manual but I dunno if I want to go that deep into it. Then I'd have to find Tacoma stuff for sure I think.

 

4x4 swap is one thing. going manual your better of finding a different truck

 

once you factor in ECU, engine harness, pedal stuff, ETC... your going to be deep into a truck for a manual swap

Yeah. I think she'll be happy with 4wd at least. She has had zero luck trying to sell it, maybe asking a bit much but it is super clean. But noone even expressed interest.
