Let’s try this again. Bought 5 Black 4Runner Trail Wheels in all the same condition. Used my Griot’s G9 with a white pad and some Meguiars 105 Ultra Cut Compound, then a black pad with Meguiars Ultra Finishing Polish. Then the final coat of product was the Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Ceramic Coating. 9H hardness stuff is amazing.

Man, those look good. It's a nice feeling when hard work really pays off in the end.

I've got a question for you.

I put a new set of 4Runner wheels on my Sport. Even though I like the wheels I think they would look better if they has a little sheen to them instead of the flat black. In you experience would ceramic coating give them some shine?

    Thanks.

I've got my '20 scheduled to be ceramic coated the middle of October. They use the Ceramic Pro products including the Ceramic Pro Wheels & Caliper coating. They claim it's 10 times harder than the product that's applied to the paint. We'll see.
I'm looking forward to seeing the wheels with a little sheen. I think it will be a big improvement. My mind's eye is telling me there should be some sheen contrast between wheels and tires. The flat black wheels are just not doing it for me.

Did the M105 remove all the scratches and scuffs?

If not, did the Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Ceramic Coating conceal any of the scratches?

M105 is a pretty aggressive polish and indeed will remove many scratches. I would offer one caution on using it on something like a clear coated wheel though. The clear coats used on wheels are fairly soft - especially when compared with the clear coat on your painted body panels. That said, when you use a polisher / buffer and a foam pad to polish a wheel, you run the risk if removing more clear coat on the sharp edges than the flat surfaces. (Like where the black painted inset areas on the OP's wheels meet the machined surface.) If you live someplace where road salt is used, this will cause issues down the road where that area with less protection will oxidize much more quickly that the surrounding areas. That oxidation will then creep under the good clear coat compromising it too. If they don't use corrosive road chemicals where you live, no worries.

Thank you for all that I’ll keep an eye on out. The ones on my truck currently have the same coating and get vigorously washed weekly. And show no signs yet but hopefully that won’t happen. I will say I kept the polisher flat on the biggest part never on its side per se on the edges.

I would think the ceramic coating would more then make up for any clear coat lost during polishing.

As do I but one never knows. I let the first coat dry until tomorrow when I apply the second coat tomorrow.

The pictures may have made the wheels look worst than what they actual are.

You did a great job at polishing.

Did you get your Pro yet?
