    not enough.
that's really strange, given how much people rave about DT Swiss's hub reliability.

I have a DT 350 as well and the recommendation on hub upgrades was to do the 36T for reliability, not the 54T

Yes it was totally worth it. Instant power on the pedals out of corners and on tricky climbs. I never had issues with reliability as some folks have mentioned and I don’t have a cyclist’s body type.

You imagine wrong... The new gen of long travel rigs don’t pedal anything like you’d expect.
Both the 165 Spartan and 166 Wreckoning are damn sprightly. I mean, sure, it doesn’t fee like a short travel bike. But at least as good a most mid travel bikes. And feel like DH bikes at speed.

78.5 Headtube?! I think you mean seattube.

I’m not that tall at 5’8”, and anything around 77* (effective) puts me in a good pedaling position. Any less and the front end wanders, feels like the front wants to lift when it’s steep, and gets harder to get it around right uphill switchbacks.

If the reliability is there with the upgrade, do it. less engagement throw is always better.

Hydras will explode your brain. I can never not have them now. Really noticeable on techy sections where that extra ratchet kick or two in the rocks or up a ledge is the key to success. That lack of slop before the hub engages is so nice.

Just picked up some new to me wheels for super cheap. Will go well on the Karate Monkey. BTLos 50mm carbon hoops with DT Swiss 240S hubs. Really not crazy about the color but cheap is cheap

That ultra-high engagement is amazing. The only time they're not the greatest is if you have a bike with a lot of pedal kick-back. That can make the bike feel pretty damn rough sometimes. The Project 321 are a good alternate as they have slightly less, but still killer, engagement. I have both, and barely notice the difference. The P321s have had some small issues though (rear hub seal, which was replaced byP321 and is now perfect), and they do have a little more drag than the Hydras. But the magnetic pawl design mean they're super easy to work on. And they have a near-silent option for those who don't like louder hubs.
If you have Hydras, and want them quieter, I was able to get the Hydras damn-near-silent, with just a touch of hub grease on the pawls.

Anybody have a 210x55 shock they may want to part ways with?

The DVO Topaz on my Ripmo developed a linear deep groove/scratch on the shaft which i have to send in for warranty replacement. Shitty timing that i have a bike trip scheduled next weekend. Is it shady if i wait a week til after my trip and still ride it and send it in next week after the trip even though ive been in contact with DVO all week?

Nah, they are likely going to replace the shaft anyways.

It’s a shame they can’t send you a loner. I’m sure everyone thinks that when their shock needs a warranty claim that it’s a crisis but a bike trip qualifies in my book.

I mean its either wait, ride it and potentially ruin it more... or send it in and buy a Marzocchi Bomber CR coil shock or a used shock to get by, and then sell it after the trip. Its cheap enough and i dont care to take a $100 hit selling it afterwards if i had to. I cant demo/rent any bikes in the area im going to either

Man I'd see if this guy could send this to you ASAP. https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2883903/

That seems like a really good deal. It sounds like he had a warranty issue and ended up having 2 shocks and likes air better.

I don't think it's shady at all. They have to take care of it anyway, and a few more miles aren't going to change what they have to fix.
Personally, I'd ride it and send it in after. But if you're thinking of upgrading, this might be the push you needed. Selling that warrantied shock will get you that much closer.

**I'm really good at justifying bike expenses (as I'm scrolling through Push's website)...
