The only movement in the Imperial Dunes when I drove past 5 mins ago was the border patrol.

I'm scoping out the trial right now, looks pretty cool, seems like theres a lot of area to go off and explore, good mountains to climb...

Yup, once we get to the abandoned trestle, you can take off and explore in any direction when you want. Most of us will be following @Silverlogic back out. My guess is that he'll explore a new route out from the previous years and we're starting earlier too, so that should give us some more exploration time on the way out. We aired up as the sun was setting last year which made for an interesting trek for the freeway.

I am looking for a fun new route out from the trestle, the only option that is vastly different than the last 2 years is up the wash to the north east to the Bradshaw trail and following that to the east. The problem with that is that it adds 60ish miles of offroad travel and meets pavement south of blythe just west of the Colorado River. While that would be epic, I think it's just a little too much for most of our group.

We will most likely leave to the north east with the intention of getting back on the 10, similar to last year but taking a slightly different route.

I'll be camping on the NE shore of the Salton Sea and was thinking about doing the opposite and heading west on Bradshaw. On TrailsOffroad it says at the end of Bradshaw you head north and follow the aqueduct for 8 miles, it comes out into a housing tract on the south side of the canal - does this sound right to you?

That sounds right, it's similar to the route we took the first year. I wasn't a fan due to the speed limits on the way back to the ten, took forever.
