Still waiting on my frame clean and spray to be done by the dealer. I have an appointment that keeps getting pushed back.

My appointment is Friday 2 October.

I need to call and ask about a loaner. When the appointment was set (a couple of months ago) the service guy didn't know if they provided a loaner.

Installed the BakFlip MX4 tonneau cover. Solid cover and breeze to install.

Anybody know what could be going on here? I've noticed ticking recently when driving, and today I cleaned the MAF and replaced the air filter. Super noticeable with the hood up.

I haven't noticed any fluid loss or anything. Also IDK if I am still on the original plugs or not.

Today I played around with these matte black emblems just for fun. Nothing permanent, 100% reversible.

Not sure if I like the taco on the grill. Too much lettering and i feel the badge looks much better.

This placement turned out nice, thinking of keeping it.

That sounds like lifter thrash, not good. Get it confirmed by a mechanic to be sure but you are looking at the heads being rebuilt probably at a minimum. If you surpass a few grand in quotes to repair start looking for used engines to swap in.

Dang. I still owe a bit on the truck too.... Wish I had researched better about the 05/06 engines before buying.

I will also add that the dealer did a "free oil change" for me a few months back. I have been skeptical about them actually changing it, because the turn around time was insanely fast (despite the dealer saying they were pretty backed up that day) and they got the "next oil change mileage" wrong. As if they didn't even look at my odometer?

I have heard some oil additives will help and are some times used to hide the thrash noise when selling questionable cars or get you over a hump till you have the cash but I'm not sure what they do to the engine long term. Again take it to a mechanic to get it diagnosed. Sounded loudest in your video when you were on the driver side.

Oil changes can be done pretty quickly these days. Anyone with a lift and a raised oil catch can have an oil change done in less than 15 min. Especially if the engine was warm going in the oil will be less viscous and run out real fast. Slap a new filter on and fill'er back up since these are 5.5 quarts its real fast.

It was pretty wet but not bad at all. The water crossings were definitely deeper though.

Should I hold off changing the oil until the mechanic diagnoses it?

Oil change would be cheap to see if it fixes the issue, have you checked to see if you are low on oil? Some engines the lifters get chatty when oil is low. If thats not low I would take it to a mechanic to check it out before doing anything to it.
