Just took her for another drive today. Imogene Pass from Telluride to Ouray. It really was a great trail. I love the San Juan’s, not particularly hard trails, but scenic AF.

That isn't a problem common to those years of Tacomas.

@theolee we are in luck! My heater blower motor went out today, perfect time to replace my trucks original cabin air filter (2006, 130K miles, on dirt often). Wait a minute, that doesn't seem "lucky" to me. Lol

The job took me about an hour and a half, a bruised left elbow, 7 beers, lots of "where did I put that...".

    BTW, it's a 5/32 socket or a 5.5mm socket.

The mythical cabin filter is real!

I bet it smells like old bacon and your blower motor finally had enough and died..
    just kidding...

Honestly not as bad as I thought it would be :D

Well that’s good to hear. After purchasing it I started hearing about head gasket issues, and to just avoid 05/06 altogether.
Gonna change the oil tomorrow and see what happens.

Man that’s beautiful country. Ouray is our favorite stop on the way to Yankee Boy Basin and beyond. Hoping to get back there next summer. Stay well. Thanks for posting.

You didn't mention time frame. Or what the Mrs. receives. Remember, a little "grease" can help slide the attitude button from "no" to "yes" or "oil calms troubled waters." Before I bought the Tacoma, I bought the wife a Highlander. I think I've still spent less on the Tacoma than I did on the Highlander.

Relocated my back up camera. New bumper build didn’t really lend itself to keeping it where it was. Sure is tucked up there now, only problem is it’s like 240p and from like 2009

The head gasket issue us real but it's greatly exaggerated.

The same trucks motor mounts on the frame can collapse as well. They sell reinforcement kits to fix that issue.

    Both problems were corrected 11/2005.

Consider raising the front of the front seats, or the backs of the front seats, or both. They make spacers so the angle of the seat bottom can be changed.

I think it gives them a bit more comfort. Nothing crazy drastic though. You may need some kind of seat pad for that.

When mine got done a couple years ago they gave me a loaner for 3 days. Should be part of the recall deal.

Little bit of this and that
I took this route too. Bought the wife a Sienna XLE the week after I got my Tacoma but before I bought any upgrades. Even with all the upgrades I've bought over the last year I'm into the truck for less than what we got her van for.

I am in no way defending the stealer ship. But I changed my oil without even jacking the truck up, in 15 minutes yesterday. Its so easy on the Taco! :headbang:

As far as the ticking goes, my engine makes all kinds of sounds. I've just decided to ignore it unless I see a leak, find something other than oil in the oil when I change it, or it starts burning oil. I even sent my oil in for an analysis after the last change and blackstone said it looked great.

Big weekend in the garage. I changed out the 3" Rough Country spacer lift (installed by original owner) for an Old Man Emu suspension lift with Super Bumps. I haven't measured, but looks like I lost some lift (less than an inch), but it is well worth in. Next step is to get my alignment. If anybody in the Las Vegas area has a shop they recommend, I am open to suggestions.
