Hi all, hey I am driving down to Silver Springs to hang with my dad. I will be sown there for almost a couple of weeks. Is there some mild trails around that I can get out and see the country side while I am down.

    Thanks and Be Safe...

Any of you guys be interested in doing a boring, easy desert drive sometime next weekend? Meet up in red rock, run out to the BLM land and burn East over to Pyramid Hwy, stopping to screw around at Moonrocks?

Ever since I got out of the built jeep rock-crawler game, it's been hard to find folks that just want to desert run and maybe have a picnic half way through lol.

Rawe Peak just South of Dayton is great.

Head out to Old Como Road and go past the high school and the water tank. It will take you up to the AT&T radio towers that over look all of Dayton Valley. Only take about 45min. Fairly easy trail since the AT&T service trucks have to be able to make it up there.

    https://www.summitpost.org/rawe-peak/510690

Also check out Dixie Valley just east of Fallon off US 50. It is an area on the Fallon bombing range open to public access (no munitions dropping area) and has lots of "target" tanks scattered around the old ranches in the area. You can also watch the live bombing practice on the range just South of US 50 if they are doing that at the time. There is a side road on the West side off of US 50 with a great view.

Took an afternoon drive to Stampede yesterday and drove a little too close to the water. :anonymous: Nothing 10 minutes of digging couldn’t solve but damn it’s crazy how fast it goes from hard dry dirt to shitty slick mud.

I heard or read somewhere that Stampede was closed. Wonder if it's just the main road going in from Hirshdale?

I came in from Hirshdale and it was wide open. Didn’t see any closed signs or anything just a big No Fires sign.

Huh, cool. Guess my info was wrong. Lots of that going around lately with the fires and stuff. Good to know

Yeah I was under the impression the national forests were all open again except for dispersed camping.

Hands down, one of the best things about this area. You can leave your front door and be in the middle of absolute nowhere within an hour.

Absolutely. There are a couple spots I won't go without some better skids and sliders, but for the most part, after work, head to the mountains and be gone. On my way down, saw another taco: i believe 2018+ offroad cement. Not sure if he's on here
