YEAH I KNOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ASKED SOMEWHAT OF THE SAME QUESTION A AM GOING TO ASK...JUST NEED SOME CLARIFICATION. I HAVE A 2011 TRD SPORT 4X4. THE MANUAL IS A LITTLE CONFUSING. IS THE ALSD ON WHEN THE LIGHT ON THE DASH IS ILLUMINATED? SO WHEN THE LIGHT IS OFF IT IS OFF? IF THIS IS TRUE WHY CAN'T I HAVE ALSD IN 4 HI OR LOW? I KNOW THE MANUAL SAYS CAN ONLY BE USED USED IN 2 WD ON 4 WHEEL DRIVE MODELS....WTF! DOES HAVING VSC OFF IN 4 HI AND 4 LO GIVE BETTER TRACTION? HELP MY SLOW LEARNING ASS UNDERSTAND. THANKS

It's all in my head at the moment...
The regulars can sometimes be a bit irregular...I felt worse than you when I read the replies. I'm guessing by now you know not to "Caps Lock" when just chatting.

As for your question, I can't answer but there are those who used to be new too that'll help you out.

See there is a reason for repeating the details... But to keep it simple:

AUTO LSD (ALSD) and TRAC in H4 are the same function... Both are 'traction control' WITHOUT engine output regulation.

TRAC in H2 has output regulation... It is unfortunate they didn't use a different name for H4 TRAC...

So ALSD in 2WD and TRAC in H4 are both a stronger limited slip then TRAC in 2WD.

    No problem...

I did not look at your link first...

I had some time so I answered him directly... then I checked your link and saw that it went to a thread I started...

Oh, you changed the words in my "quote", which is uncool...

Otherwise, hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
