BUT since I'm now in an identical truck that is black, I'm following this thread to plan my suspension build :D

Back on topic.....I highly recommend Dobinsons and @Crikeymike. I am very happy with the suspension on my truck.

I know a lot of Dobinsons coils are sold out right now, but there's a price increase next week, October 1st, on all coils!! Any orders placed until then, even if they're on backorder, will still get the current pricing.

    Just a heads up!!

I have a 2018 double cab long bed 4x4. I have rock sliders. No other weight up front. I currently have Bilstein 5100's paired with ome 888 to get 3 inches of lift. The coils have sagged, so I ordered c59-352 coils. With the Bilstein 5100's set at 0, will this setup give me 3 inches of lift, or should I set the 5100's on the first notch? Thank you.

Whichever notch is 1/2" taller than the bottom to add 1" to the lift height is what you'd need for 3"

So the coil alone will not provide 3" of lift? Is this why the coils are often paired with specific struts from Dobinsons? What is the difference between the Dobinsons struts? Just trying to figure out if I should order different struts as well. I've been advised not set the Bilsteins above 0 if I have aftermarket coils.

Per post #1, those are 2" lift with ~200lbs of front weight on them. Might be about 2.25" to 2.5" without a bumper with a stock coil seat height. The Dobinsons 220 struts have a taller coil seat that when combined with the 2" coils gives 3" of lift.

Yeah, Bilstein doesn't advise using non stock coils on their struts yet so many people do it.

been reading this thread and looking for some help on set up for a lift. Bare with me as this is my first tacoma and looking to kit it out and start off roading. And Doninson kits look legit after tons of research. Baby steps

I have a DCLB and want to go 3" lift all around. First for looks but Off road functionality very soon. I don't want to level and want to have a slight rake. Currently front and rear fenders measure 35" from ground. Thought all trucks have a rake but guessing I dont. No plans on bumper upgrade but tow a camper and always have a load of some sort so don't want sag in the rear. Would like 33" but a CMC is out of the question so 275's are probably going to happen.

Hey bud. Maybe yours came with a front spacer lift from the dealer? It's pretty common in some areas of the country.

The standard for measuring a lift height is from the center of the hub up to the fender. Stock/new is usually 20" front and 22" rear.

3" front is no problem, but the rear springs aren't spec'd to give 3", not unless you run a heavier spring that's rated for more constant weight, and you don't have that weight on there. That would be the L59-112-R.

Thanks Mike. I just remeasured hub to fender and both are sitting 21". I do not see a spacer on the front. Only concern is going full 3" on front and having the front sitting higher than the rear. Not sure if it's a 2020 Sport setup. Maybe the 2" in front and whatever I can get in the rear to give a little rake. Will the heavy duty leafs give 2" or slightly more?

Maybe so. Double cab fronts are 20", and extra cabs are 21", so they must have done something new for the 2020's, and the rears are usually 22", regardless of the cab.

The leaf springs give the specified lift height with the max amount of constant weight listed on them, so with less weight, they give more lift. Long beds need the 111's or 112's though, since they're a little heavier. Based on where you're starting from, I don't think you'll get 3" out of the 112R's.

There's all sorts of guys in this thread running different combinations. Hopefully some with double cab long beds will chime in with what they're running and their settled hub to fender measurements so you can use that as examples for what you'll get.

Just completed my order for a lift kit with Exit Offroad. Crikeymike was incredibly helpful. Can’t wait to get it installed. Will post pics before and after. :taco:

I was waiting until tomorrow to order my set up when my bonus hit. The springs I want are sold out. :annoyed:

Thanks! Most of the suspension parts are listed here. Although, through trial and error, I pulled the Dobinsons gresable shackle bolts because they didn't work with the Hammer Hangers. One of these days I'll get around to making a build thread. Some install pics can be found in the next two posts here

@Crikeymike Do the GS59-220 struts that give 1” of extra lift, preload the coils to give lift, or are they 1” longer overall with the higher coil seat?

They are longer in extended length to compensate for the taller coil seat height, so it doesn't end up adding any additional preload. The coil just sits in a higher position on the strut.

This also makes them less prone to topping out (hitting full extension), whereas the regular GS59-221 struts would top out if too much lift was added to them, like 3" or more.
