Got snowed on today. Probably marks the end of wet wading season.

Catching native cutts always makes it worth it though.

Only took 6 weeks but I finally got my rod back from Redington after sending it in. Never received an email or anything from them but I'm happy it came back lol. Gonna try to get up to the Sierras/Utah one last time before things start snowing over.

Speaking of which, anyone deal with Orvis on rod warranties? I'm up to almost 2 months without a word from them. I want my recon back! :annoyed:

The last 6" or so flew off mid cast. Not sure if it might have been cracked on anything before hand, but I had been fishing with it like 2 hours already that day. :notsure:

I did read about other people having issues with the Recons, and I see they updated them recently. I'm really hoping they just send me a brand new one.

IMG_3270_20200928_122904.jpg sorry about the potato picture. The ladies that were fishing near me snapped it and sent it to me. I did convince them to give fly fishing a try. After they seen how many hook ups I had, they couldn't wait to try out fly casting.

It was a spendy day. Broke two rods on these kings. I can't remember the last time I broke a rod, let alone 2 in 1 day!IMG_3270_20200928_122904.jpg IMG_20200928_191128.jpg

Damn, looks like they snapped pretty low on the rod.

    Nice catch by the way.

Few pics from my recent trip to Maine's Baxter State Park. Had a great little cabin (primitive) on a pond. The park has canoes on all of the outlying remote ponds that you hike and or hike & paddle to. Some are about 1/2 mile and others are 4+ miles. Weather was perfect with highs in lower 60's and lows in 40's. With the drought, the ponds were all low, but were cold. Fishing is all FFO with fish ranging from 6" to 16" (each pond has it's own unique biomass). All native brook trout. Fishing was simply fantastic in some ponds and challenging in others, but we caught fish in those challenging ones. A much needed trip/getaway given the year I've had.

It's an amazing place. I generally do a late May/early June trip and a late September trip (season closes 9/30 on ponds). Every trip is different.

I haven’t been there in 30 years lol but I remember that trip fondly. I was 9 or 10 and we did Mt Katahdin. Caught a few natives trolling double hook grey ghosts :)

Perhaps one of my favorite ponds/views.
